About the Role:

The Discom Manager (Energy & Power) will lead all activities related to power planning, electrical infrastructure readiness, energy optimization, and utility coordination for EV charging stations. The role ensures that each charging site has safe, reliable, and cost‑optimized power supply through efficient load planning, transformer sizing, compliance management, and energy performance tracking.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Power Planning & Infrastructure Development

Assess electrical load requirements for fast, ultra-fast, and AC chargers.
Design and review single line diagrams (SLDs) for EV charging sites.
Evaluate transformer capacity, RMU/HT panel needs, and switchgear sizing.
Coordinate with Discom/ EPC contractors for power infrastructure design and on-ground execution.
Perform technical feasibility studies for upcoming charging locations.

B. Utility & DISCOM Coordination

Liaise with DISCOMs for new HT/LT connections, load enhancement, metering configurations.
Ensure submission & approval of electrical drawings, safety documents, and statutory permits.
Monitor statutory compliance as per local/state electricity regulations.

C. Energy Management & Optimization

Track site wise energy consumption, peak demand and charging efficiency.
Implement energy-saving strategies
Evaluate solar rooftop, battery storage, and hybrid energy integration options.
Minimize operational cost through tariff analysis and consumption forecasting.

D. Operations & Reliability

Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance of electrical systems across sites.
Monitor power outages, voltage fluctuations, and equipment failures.
Ensure uptime KPIs for chargers and overall site availability.

E. Safety, Compliance & Quality Assurance

Enforce electrical safety standards, grounding norms, and risk mitigation.
Conduct regular audits on electrical panels, cables, earthing pits, protection relays.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (B.E./B.Tech) or M.Tech/MBA Energy Management preferred.
5–12 years of experience in power systems, utilities, renewable energy, or EV charging industry.
Hands‑on experience with HT/LT electrical systems, load flow analysis, and power distribution.
Expertise in power system design, SLDs, transformer sizing, and site electrical layout.
Knowledge of EV chargers (AC/DC), load balancing, and energy metering.
Experience with solar/grid hybrid systems & BESS (bonus).
Strong project management and coordination abilities.
Analytical mindset with problem-solving attitude.
Excellent communication with contractors, DISCOMs, and internal teams.
Ability to work in fast-paced EV startup/scale-up environments.
