Director of Risk Management

Oklahoma City, OK

$140,000 - $150,000 base salary + bonus + LTI


A well established international retailer operating in the luxury goods sector is looking to appoint a senior risk leader based in Oklahoma City. This is a newly created role with responsibility for building and leading the organisation's risk management function.


The position will take ownership of risk management across the business, with a primary focus on operational risk alongside some short term credit risk exposure and a small amount of market risk. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership to establish the structure, frameworks and governance required to support a growing international retail operation.


This role will initially operate as a standalone function. The successful individual will need to be comfortable working in a hands on capacity while developing the foundations of the programme. Over time the role is expected to grow into a broader leadership position incorporating areas such as loss prevention, quality assurance and related operational oversight.


Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement the organisation's enterprise risk management framework
  • Build and maintain a structured risk management platform including governance, reporting and oversight
  • Map key operational processes across the business and identify areas of risk exposure
  • Develop risk policies, procedures and standard operating procedures
  • Provide independent oversight while working closely with operational and commercial leadership
  • Monitor operational risks associated with high value inventory, logistics and retail operations
  • Develop risk reporting and provide regular updates to senior leadership
  • Review incidents and operational failures, identifying control improvements and preventative measures
  • Support the ongoing development of risk culture across the organisation
  • Over time build and lead a broader risk team incorporating functions such as loss prevention and quality assurance


Candidate Profile

  • Hands on
  • Background in enterprise risk management or operational risk
  • Experience within retail, consumer products, supply chain or another operationally complex, stock heavy environment
  • Understanding of risks associated with high value inventory or product environments
  • Experience establishing risk frameworks, governance structures and internal controls
  • Strong process mapping and documentation experience including SOP development
  • Comfortable operating independently while working alongside senior stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel approximately once per month domestically, primarily to New York, and once per quarter internationally
