Job Description

Job Summary

The Director of Demand Planning, Scheduling, and ERP Systems is responsible for leading the organization's integrated planning processes, ensuring alignment between customer demand, supply planning, production scheduling, and enterprise system capabilities. This role oversees demand forecasting, production scheduling, and the optimization and governance of ERP and planning systems to support operational excellence and service performance.

The Director ensures that planning processes, system data, and cross-functional collaboration enable the organization to meet customer commitments while optimizing inventory, capacity utilization, and operational efficiency. This role partners closely with Sales, Operations, Finance, IT, and Engineering to drive data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement across the supply chain.

The Director is responsible for leading and training the department to accomplish goals and objectives to support the overall Supply Chain and Kimray teams.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead the development and execution of the company's demand planning process.
  • Establish and manage consensus forecasting processes across Sales, Marketing, and Operations.
  • Monitor and improve forecast accuracy metrics (MAPE, Bias, Forecast Value Add).
  • Identify demand risks and opportunities to support proactive supply planning decisions.
  • Support Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) by providing demand insights and scenario analysis.
  • Oversee production planning and scheduling to ensure alignment between customer demand, capacity, and inventory strategies.
  • Ensure weekly and daily production schedules support service targets and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor schedule adherence, capacity utilization, and production stability.
  • Collaborate with operations leadership to address capacity constraints, bottlenecks, and schedule disruptions.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Operations leadership to establish inventory strategies including safety stock, reorder points, and inventory segmentation.
  • Monitor inventory health including turns, aging, excess, and obsolete inventory.
  • Analyzes reports, Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and external benchmarks to identify opportunities for continuous growth.
  • Accountable for achieving performance targets.
  • Serve as a key liaison between Sales, Operations, Finance, IT, and Engineering.
  • Facilitate alignment between customer demand signals and operational capabilities.
  • Support strategic initiatives such as new product introductions, system implementations, and operational improvements.
  • Provide leadership support during ERP implementations, system upgrades, and process transformations.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of demand planners, production schedulers, and ERP system specialists.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and data-driven culture within the team.
  • Promote continuous improvement and cross-functional partnership.
  • Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Reports all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or a Health Safety and Environmental team member.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 8+ years' experience in Demand Planning, Forecasting, and/or Scheduling
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in demand planning, production planning, or supply chain systems.
  • Experience in manufacturing environments with complex supply chains.
  • Experience with ERP and advanced planning systems.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
  • Advanced understanding of forecasting methodologies
  • Experience with S&OP / Integrated Business Planning
  • ERP system knowledge (such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Advanced planning systems experience (Kinaxis, Blue Yonder, etc.)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills

Education

  • Bachelors' Degree required
  • Masters' Degree preferred
  • CPM, CPSM or CPIM certification preferred
