What You’ll Do

As a Director, AI Engineering, you will lead Teradata’s highly visible Agentic AI Systems Platform, building a worldclass suite of scalable, nextgeneration AI products. In this role, you will:

- Drive design, architecture, development, evolution, and delivery for multiple AI driven product offerings—including SLM finetuning systems, industry specific multiagent AI solutions, and customer-facing pilot services.

- Lead and develop a high performing engineering organization comprising Engineering Managers and Senior Staff Engineers.

- Shape the product vision, technology roadmap, and engineering strategy for Agentic AI Systems.

- Be deeply involved in technical decision making, providing hands-on guidance across architecture, modelling, system design, and operational excellence.

- Collaborate with cross-functional partners across Product, Cloud, Architecture, and Customer teams to deliver high impact, end to end capabilities.

- Champion best practices across the software development lifecycle, including code quality, documentation, testing, CI/CD, observability, and production excellence.

- Establish data-driven processes and feedback loops to continuously improve product quality, performance, and engineering efficiency.

- Build and sustain a culture of ownership, innovation, high accountability, and technical excellence across your teams.

- Stay current with emerging technologies, AI/ML advancements, and industry best practices to ensure long-term product and organizational success.

Who You’ll Work With

You will work closely with engineering teams, product leaders, AI/ML experts, cloud architects, and customer facing teams across Teradata. This role reports to senior technology leadership and plays a critical part in defining Teradata’s future in AI driven enterprise solutions.

What Makes You a Qualified Candidate

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent from a recognized institution.

- 15+ years of experience in largescale product development, distributed systems, or AI/ML, including 3+ years leading multiple engineering managers and teams.

- Strong technical depth in AI/ML technologies, including LLMs, SLMs, and agentic AI systems.

- Expertise in Java-based services development, RESTful APIs, cloud technologies, and distributed system architecture.

- Experience building high quality products in fast paced technology environments.

What You’ll Bring

(Preferred qualifications)

- Proficiency with data stores (SQL/NoSQL), data modelling, and messaging systems such as Kafka.

- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containerization, and modern deployment practices.

- Familiarity with AI productivity tools such as GitHub Copilot and UI technologies.

- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, collaborate with diverse stakeholders, and drive alignment across teams.

- Demonstrated ability to mentor senior engineers, foster healthy team dynamics, and build scalable engineering organizations.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to varied audiences.

- A growth mindset and ability to thrive in dynamic, fast evolving environments while continuously raising the bar.
