Deputy Manager / Manager-Manufacturing

Job Description

1. Production Management & Efficiency:

• Monitor production output, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime.
• Optimize resource allocation, including labor, equipment, and materials, to maximize productivity and reduce costs.
• Improve Work efficiency
• Implement lean manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, Kanban) to drive continuous improvement.
• Analyze production data and metrics to identify trends, areas for improvement, and potential issues.
• Oversee and optimize equipment maintenance schedules and strategies to ensure reliability and longevity.

2. Quality Assurance & Control:

• Ensure all manufactured products meet established quality standards and specifications.
• Implement and maintain robust quality control procedures throughout the production process.
• Investigate and resolve quality issues, implementing corrective and preventative actions (CAPA).
• Collaborate with the Quality Assurance department to develop and refine quality control measures.
• Promote a culture of quality throughout the manufacturing team.

3. Team Leadership & Development:

• Recruit, hire, train, and develop a high-performing manufacturing team.
• Provide clear direction, coaching, and performance feedback to direct reports.
• Conduct performance reviews and implement development plans for team members.
• Foster a positive, collaborative, and empowering work environment.
• Address employee concerns, mediate conflicts, and promote effective communication.
• Ensure compliance with all labor laws and company policies.

4. Safety & Compliance:

• Establish a strong safety culture, ensuring all manufacturing operations adhere to company safety policies.
• Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards, implementing preventative measures.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Investigate all accidents and near misses, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

5. Budget & Cost Management:

• Develop and manage the manufacturing department budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
• Identify opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs without compromising quality or safety.
• Monitor and control expenses related to labor, materials, and overhead.

6. Continuous Improvement & Innovation:

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all manufacturing processes.
• Research and implement new technologies, equipment, and manufacturing methods to enhance productivity and efficiency.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices.
• Encourage and empower employees to identify and suggest improvements.

7. Collaboration & Communication:

• Customer Engagements
• Collaborate effectively with other departments, including Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Sales.
• Communicate production status, challenges, and successes to senior management.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering, Masters Preferred
• Experience: 12+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3-5 years in a Mid Management /managerial role.
• Flexible to work in shifts, when required.
• Technical Skills:
• Proven experience with lean manufacturing principles and methodologies.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and technologies relevant to the industry.
• Proficiency in using manufacturing software ERP systems, MES
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong understanding of quality control methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, SPC).
• Leadership & Soft Skills:
• Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of motivating and developing teams.
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
