ESL Steel Limited is poising towards debottlenecking of its operations & has expansion plans in Jharkhand state. We are in the process of expanding in 2 phases, First phase is 1.5 MT to 3 MT Brown field project and from 3 MT to 10 MT Green Field Project, to ensure Vedanta’s strong footprint in steel business.

Position Name: Deputy Chief Commercial officer - Projects

Experience: 10 years

Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, (with MBA /PGDM preferred)

Location: Bokaro

Role Purpose

To lead and manage all commercial and contract-related activities for the project, ensuring cost control, contract compliance, timely procurement, logistics control and effective vendor management while supporting project delivery within approved budgets and timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage end-to-end commercial operations for project including contracts, procurement, billing, and cost control.
• Plan and support commercial execution for Expansion Project, including budgeting, procurement coordination, and contract management.
• Ensure adherence to audit requirements, internal controls, and statutory compliance across project activities.
• Benchmarking with peers.
• Preparation, review, and finalization of contracts, work orders, amendments, and variations for Project supply and services contract.
• Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cash flows; highlight risks and cost overruns in advance.
• Preparation of estimates, Lead vendor negotiations, rate finalization and contacting
• Coordinate with engineering, project execution, finance, and legal teams for smooth commercial closure.
• Track claims, counterclaims, extensions of time, BGs and change orders.
• Support audits (internal and external) and ensure proper documentation and records.
• Guide and mentor the commercial team at the project site.
• Provide regular MIS and commercial reports to senior management.

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Strong understanding of project contracts, EPC/PMC models, and commercial risk management
• Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills
• Sound knowledge of costing, budgeting, billing, and financial controls
• Ability to work cross-functionally in a project environment
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills
