The Data Engineer III will support the Principal Data Engineer in delivering high-quality data engineering solutions for enterprise-level initiatives. This role involves developing, testing, and monitoring ETL pipelines to ensure reliable, scalable, and efficient data processing.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with IBM DataStage, Snowflake, dbt, and MettleCI, and a proven background in data pipeline testing, data governance, and ETL optimization. The candidate should be able to quickly contribute to critical projects while adhering to enterprise coding standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, test, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data management systems.
Develop and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using IBM DataStage, Snowflake, dbt, and MettleCI.
Ensure data solutions are efficient, scalable, and compliant with enterprise governance standards.
Implement comprehensive data pipeline testing strategies, including:

Unit testing for ETL/ELT components
Integration and regression testing
Data quality and validation frameworks
Automated testing within CI/CD pipelines

Develop high-performance algorithms, predictive models, and custom data processing components to support analytics and reporting needs.
Integrate new data engineering tools and automation technologies into existing data architectures.
Optimize processes related to data modeling, data mining, and data production workflows.
Identify opportunities to leverage enterprise data assets for improved analytics and insights.
Collaborate with solution architects, IT teams, and data scientists to meet project goals.
Recommend improvements to enhance data quality, reliability, scalability, and performance.
Maintain and update disaster recovery procedures to ensure system resilience and data availability.

Required Technical Skills

Must Have Skills:

Strong experience with IBM DataStage
Experience with Snowflake
Hands-on experience with dbt (data build tool)
Experience using MettleCI for CI/CD integration
Expertise in ETL/ELT pipeline development and optimization
Experience with data pipeline testing frameworks
Knowledge of data governance, coding standards, and scalable data architecture

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, ETL development, or Business Intelligence
Proven experience designing and supporting enterprise-scale data platforms
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
Experience working in cross-functional teams with architects, developers, and analysts
Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
