Job Description
The Credit Controller will be responsible for managing customer credits and outstanding debts, ensuring timely recovery, minimising revenue leakage, and maintaining accurate financial records.
Responsibilities:
- The role requires strong knowledge of UK finance practices, accounting standards, and relevant UK laws, along with hands-on experience in credit control, debt recovery, and financial analysis.
- Manage and review credits processed, recommend reductions, and approve credits where required.
- Monitor outstanding balances (debts) and propose effective recovery solutions.
- Take immediate action on increasing or ageing debts to minimize financial risk.
- Segregate recoverable and unrecoverable debts and coordinate with debt collection agencies for further action.
- Draft and issue official payment reminder and recovery letters to debtors.
- Review customer payment plans and take necessary action on unpaid or defaulted plans.
- Identify revenue leakage and promptly report findings to management. Maintain regular alignment with the finance team to ensure account accuracy and consistency. Continuously monitor invoices, credits, and incoming payments.
- Review chargebacks, payment disputes, and related banking processes.
- Manage and review direct debits and mandates. Reconcile debtor accounts and present clear debtor position reports.
- Perform financial analysis and provide insights to support decision-making. Manage currency conversions and multi-currency account reconciliation.
Requirements:
- Knowledge Strong experience in accounting and UK financial operations.
- Good understanding of UK finance regulations and relevant laws.
- Proven experience in credit control, debt recovery, and collections. Knowledge of chargebacks, payments, banking processes, and direct debit mandates.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Experience with debtor reconciliation and financial analysis.
- Minimum of 8 - 10 years of experience in the Relevant domain.
- Working knowledge of currency conversions and multi-currency transactions.
- Strong communication skills, especially for drafting official financial correspondence.
