Role Description The Compositing Artist will be responsible for combining rendered elements, live-action plates, and visual effects into polished final shots for a variety of projects. Day-to-day tasks include integrating CG and 2D elements, refining color and lighting, creating seamless transitions, cleaning up plates, and ensuring continuity between shots. The role involves close collaboration with CG, lighting, and editorial teams to interpret creative direction and maintain consistency with project style guides. The Compositing Artist will also participate in reviews, implement feedback efficiently, and help optimize workflows and templates where needed. This is a full-time remote role.

Qualifications

  • Strong compositing skills in industry-standard software (Nuke, After Effects) and familiarity with multi-pass workflows, keying, rotoscoping, and tracking.
  • Solid understanding of color theory, lighting, photographic principles, and image optimization for different formats and delivery specifications.
  • Experience integrating CG, live-action, and 2D elements, with an eye for detail in matte edges, grain matching, and perspective alignment.
  • Ability to interpret storyboards and animatics, collaborate with directors and supervisors, and respond constructively to iterative feedback.
  • Strong problem-solving and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a remote production environment.
  • Effective communication skills and comfort working in distributed teams using version control, shot-tracking, and project management tools.
  • Relevant experience in visual effects, animation, or post-production; a portfolio or showreel demonstrating compositing work is required.
  • Formal training or a degree in animation, VFX, film, or a related field is beneficial but not mandatory; equivalent professional experience is welcomed.
