Job Description

Job Title: Commercial Lines Underwriter

Job Purpose:

To assess, evaluate, and underwrite retail insurance proposals for non-motor, non-health segments including property, fire, burglary, engineering, and miscellaneous lines. Ensuring Growth and risk selection aligns with company underwriting guidelines and profitability targets.

Key Responsibilities:

Underwriting & Risk Assessment

Evaluate and underwrite proposals for property, fire, burglary, engineering, and other miscellaneous retail products.
Analyze risk exposures, policy terms, and coverage requirements.
Ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines, pricing models, and regulatory norms.

Portfolio Management

Monitor performance of underwritten risks and contribute to portfolio profitability.
Identify trends and recommend corrective actions for adverse loss ratios.

Stakeholder Engagement

Support channel partners and intermediaries with technical underwriting inputs.

Documentation & Compliance

Maintain accurate underwriting records and documentation.
Ensure compliance with IRDAI regulations and internal audit requirements.

Product Development & Innovation

Provide feedback on product features and market trends.
Collaborate with product teams to enhance offerings based on customer and market needs.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

Graduate/Postgraduate in Insurance, Risk Management, or related field.
Professional certifications (e.g., Fellowship/Associateship from III) preferred.
