Job Description

The Coordinator, College and Career Readiness (IET/Pathways) is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing career-focused instructional programs, combining adult literacy/education with occupational training. This position will recruit, hire, and supervise instructors in IET/Pathways programs and recruit, advise, and track student progress toward industry-recognized credentials, ensuring transition to employment or further post-secondary education. This position may be required to teach CCR classes if needed.

  • Provides excellent customer service and assistance to internal and external customers through walk-in, telephone and email
  • Plans and implements IET and career pathways programs ensuring alignment with industry needs and educational standards
  • Recruits, assesses, and enrolls new and existing students in IET and pathway programs
  • Provides academic and career counseling to students, helping them set and achieve goals related to IET certificates and career goals
  • Builds relationships with employers, community organizations, and academic departments across all areas of campus to create and market IET/Pathway opportunities for CCR students in all discipline areas
  • Works closely with the Next Gen program and NC Works to reciprocally refer students/clients and maintain knowledge of local employment needs and opportunities
  • Maintains accurate records of IET approvals from the CCR state system office, student attendance, performance, and credential attainment for grant compliance and program evaluation
  • Hires and supervises IET/Pathways instructors
  • Collaborates with instructors to align the curriculum with workplace and adult literacy skills
  • Provides instructional resources that are recommended through research and professional development opportunities
  • Teaches CCR classes as needed
  • Participates in appropriate committees and task forces as assigned
  • Performs other job-related duties and projects as assigned in support of the College’s mission, core values and goals

Bachelor’s degree in Education or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.

Two (2) years’ experience teaching.

Valid NC Drivers' License.

Preferred

Master’s degree in Adult Education from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.

Experience in Career Counseling and/or workforce development and local industry needs.Knowledge

  • Adult learning theory, concepts and teaching methodology
  • Curriculum design and development
  • Advising practices and principles
  • Federal and state laws and regulations applicable to College and Career Readiness programs
  • Current trends, technologies and initiatives relative to student success
  • Principles, procedures, and practices of data collection and analysis
  • Methods and techniques of program marketing and publicity
  • Knowledge of community resources and community organizations
  • Knowledge of retention methods and practices

Skills

  • Proficiency in planning, organization, communication, training, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in technological systems as they apply to instructional and administrative needs, including Microsoft Office
  • Competency in monitoring/assessing the performance of self, other individuals and programs to make improvements or take corrective action
  • Demonstrate professional behavior that supports team efforts and enhances team behavior, performance and productivity
