Job purpose
The Surgical Consumables Lead plays a vital role in driving the growth of MED India's consumable business. As a key position, this role is responsible for expanding the surgical consumable business across all customer segments, including SG & P, Regional key accounts, government, and trade, in the assigned territory, with a focus on retaining and increasing market share. The successful candidate will develop and execute market development strategies, lead a high-performing team of surgical sales associates and channel partners, and collaborate closely with the OPT sales team responsible for the entire ophthalmology portfolio to drive business growth and revenue targets.
To excel in this position, the incumbent must possess strong leadership qualities, technical expertise, and commercial acumen to build and manage a high-performing team. Continual team building and development are essential objectives of this role, requiring the ability to motivate and guide team members to achieve sales targets and market share expansion
Main Accountabilities
Market Development and Growth:
- Develop and execute market development strategies to expand the surgical consumable business
- Identify new business opportunities and partnerships to drive growth
- Focus on retaining and increasing market share across all customer segments
- Identify and develop new key opinion leaders for surgical consumable business to drive adoption in assigned territory.
Team Leadership and Management:
- Lead and manage a high-performing team of surgical sales associates
- Build and maintain a strong, motivated team through continual development and coaching- Ensure effective communication, collaboration, and alignment with team members
Sales Strategy and Planning:
- Collaborate with the OPT sales team to develop sales strategies and plans
- Ensure alignment with overall business objectives and revenue targets
- Develop and execute sales plans to achieve sales targets and market share expansion
Customer Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with KOLs and large accounts
- Ensure customer satisfaction and resolve issues promptly
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities with existing and potential customers
Technical and Commercial Expertise:
- Possess strong technical and clinical knowledge of surgical consumables and ophthalmology products
- Demonstrate commercial acumen to drive business growth and revenue targets
- Stay up-to-date with market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs
Collaboration and Alignment:
- Work closely with the OPT sales team responsible for the entire ophthalmology portfolio
- Ensure alignment with overall business objectives and revenue targets
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business growth and market share expansion.

Job Specifications
Education
Bachelors Degree in any relevant area.
Preferred – Masters in Business Administration
Experience / Skills
- At least 6+ years of work experience in the field of Ophthalmology / healthcare / Consumable portfolio & having driven at least 10 Cr of Healthcare turnover per year for at least 3 Years in recent past is preferred
- Proven ability to manage and lead teams.
- Result orientation & strong strategic & commercial acumen.
- Excellent analytical and conceptual skills, coupled with a data-driven mindset.
- Good understanding of MS-Office.
- Positive attitude and passion that energizes customers and colleagues alike
- Strong English proficiency, fluency in additional languages a plus
