The Staffing Coordinator works with the Nursing Supervisor, Clinical Managers, Assist Managers, and Charge Nurses to create, coordinate, and monitor staffing and scheduling for the organization while promoting safe and efficient throughput functions.
Responsibilities
Human Resources/Staffing
Create, coordinate and monitor a balanced staffing schedules, including processing of schedule requests in conjunction with the staffing guidelines, monitor and adjust the staffing as needed, , generate reports as needed, maintain appropriate records.
Enters required API data, and assists in processing payroll, and records absences for organization.
EDUCATION: High School diploma or GED.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1-2 years of related experience
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Demonstrates the ability in critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making in partnership with the Nursing Supervisor. Ability to address the overall care needs of a variety of clinical types and age groups. Demonstrates the knowledge of nursing, healthcare, organizational systems, and strategies. Demonstrates the ability to work in a culturally diverse setting. Effective verbal, written, interpersonal, and telephone skills. Demonstrate high clerical accuracy and attention to detail. Working knowledge of software applications (API, Activestaffer, EXCEL, Word, and other databases). Demonstrates an independent work initiative, possesses strong organizational skills, sound judgment, problem-solving skill, diplomacy and a professional demeanor. Able to maintain sensitive and confidential information. Able to problem-solve creatively and effectively. Demonstrated clinical excellence, excellent communication skills and leadership ability. Possess motivation to promote continuing education, improved nursing practice and family-centered care.

Responsibilities
Human Resources/Staffing
Create, coordinate and monitor a balanced staffing schedules, including processing of schedule requests in conjunction with the staffing guidelines, monitor and adjust the staffing as needed, , generate reports as needed, maintain appropriate records.
- Participates in performance improvement initiatives in assigned areas to improve outcomes.
- Demonstrates knowledge of job standards and key requirements for each staff position in assigned areas of responsibility, holding staff accountable for the responsibilities inherent to their positions.
- Provides feedback to Nursing Supervisor.
Enters required API data, and assists in processing payroll, and records absences for organization.
- Evaluates scheduling needs and schedules staff accordingly after assessing current situations to ensure safe staffing ratios and clinical competency of staff as identified.
- Evaluates daily staffing needs with supported by patient census, acuity, admissions, discharges and staffs according to staffing plan.
- Participates in the development and implementation of models of patient care delivery which maximize resources and productivity with respect for individual rights, preferences, ethnicity, culture and diversity.
- Participates in performance improvement activities for assigned areas of responsibility. C Collaborates in using data to meet expectations, correct variances, and simplify work processes. Coordinates nursing care with other healthcare disciplines, and assists in integrating services across the continuum of health care.
- Collaborates with Manager ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Monitors the staffing flow processes and plans appropriately for improvement. Collect, measure, and analyze flow data and reports performance over time. Improve and redesign processes based on the evaluation, and reassess continuously. Participates in organization wide staffing flow improvement initiatives.
- Coordinates and facilitates input from the variety of patient care and support services when addressing patient care issues.
- Collaborates with Clinical Managers, Supervisor, and staff in decisions on staff allocations as needed.
- Serves as a coordinator and facilitator for the most appropriate and timely placement of patients within the system.
- Assesses staff clinical competency and compliance with fulfilling their stated roles
- Maintains and seeks responsibility for self development.
- Communication liaison with the payroll department, staff, Management and Nursing Supervisor, answer and direct phone calls, disseminate hospital and unit information to staff as needed.
- Networks with colleagues to share ideas, trends, and innovations in areas of responsibility.
- Shares knowledge and information with departments, supervisor and staff to ensure the necessary changes are made when sharing staffing resources.
- Considers the special needs and behaviors of patient population served.
- Demonstrates those competencies that address the unique characteristics related to development, physical, psychosocial, mental, emotional and social needs of patients across the life span
- Addresses the needs of patients with unique cultural norms, religious preferences language/communication barriers and/or literacy limitations.
