Position-- Chief Technology Officer - Renewable Products

Reports to : CEO / Business Unit Head

Objective:

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) – Renewable Software Products will lead the technology vision, product strategy, architecture, and execution of advanced software solutions within the Renewable Plants Automation & Control domain.

CTO Renewable Software Products is responsible for driving innovation across renewable power plant software platforms, including control systems, optimization of algorithms, SCADA integration, digital twins, analytics, and plant / asset performance management systems. The CTO will oversee end-to-end product lifecycle management — from conceptualization and algorithm development through commissioning, deployment, and lifecycle support — while enabling technical sales and regional expansion across India, Middle East, and CIS markets.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technology Strategy & Vision

• Define and execute the long-term technology roadmap aligned with business objectives.
• Establish product architecture standards for renewable automation platforms.
• Identify emerging technologies (AI/ML, grid analytics, edge computing, cybersecurity) and integrate them into product strategy.
• Drive innovation in renewable plant control, forecasting, optimization, and grid compliance.

2. Product Development & Engineering Leadership

• Lead cross-functional teams responsible for:
• Control algorithms for Solar, Wind, Hybrid, BESS and microgrid applications
• SCADA & plant automation systems
• Energy management and optimization software
• Performance analytics and predictive maintenance platforms
• Oversee full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including architecture design, coding standards, QA, cybersecurity, DevOps, and release management.
• Ensure scalable, modular, and future-ready product architecture.

3. Renewable Automation & Control Systems

• Guide development of real-time plant control systems and advanced power plant controllers.
• Ensure compliance with grid codes and regulatory standards across India, ME, and CIS.
• Oversee system integration, commissioning, and field deployment activities.
• Provide technical oversight during FAT, SAT, and commissioning phases.

4. Technical Sales & Market Enablement

• Support pre-sales engineering and technical bid management.
• Represent the organization in customer technical discussions, EPC negotiations, and regulatory engagements.
• Translate complex technical capabilities into customer value propositions.
• Support strategic partnerships and ecosystem collaborations.

5. Innovation & R&D

• Drive research in advanced control algorithms, AI-driven forecasting, energy optimization, and digital twin models.
• Foster a culture of experimentation, patent development, and product differentiation.
• Collaborate with academic institutions, research bodies, and industry alliances.

6. Execution & Delivery Excellence

• Ensure successful product deployment across renewable plant portfolios.
• Establish governance for software quality, cybersecurity, reliability, and uptime.
• Oversee post-installation support and continuous improvement mechanisms.
• Manage budgets, resource planning, and cross-regional coordination.

7. Leadership & Organizational Development

• Build and mentor high-performance engineering teams.
• Develop succession pipelines and technical leadership capabilities.
• Foster cross-functional collaboration across engineering, operations, sales, and service teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Computer Science, or related field (PhD preferred).
• 15+ years of experience in renewable energy, power systems automation, or industrial software development.
• 8+ years in senior technical leadership roles (CTO, VP Engineering, Head of Technology, etc.).
• Strong experience in renewable plant control systems (Solar, Wind, Hybrid, BESS).
• Deep knowledge of:
• Power system dynamics and grid integration
• Control system design (PID, model predictive control, adaptive control)
• SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols (IEC 61850, Modbus, OPC, etc.)
• AI/ML applications in energy systems
• Cloud-based and edge-based software architectures

Preferred Experience

• Experience operating across India, Middle East, and CIS renewable markets.
• Proven track record of launching and scaling commercial software products.
• Experience in cybersecurity frameworks for critical infrastructure.
• Exposure to regulatory compliance and grid codes in international markets.
