Job Summary: We are looking for a highly analytical and sports-passionate Sports Category & Brand Development Manager who will be responsible for identifying emerging global sports trends, researching high-potential product categories, scouting international sports brands, and evaluating strategic distribution opportunities. This role requires someone with a strong sports background, exceptional market research and analytical skills, and the ability to convert global market insights into actionable business opportunities. The ideal candidate will work closely with leadership to identify the next generation of sports brands and categories, build strategic partnerships, and support the company's long-term growth and expansion strategy in India.

The ideal candidate will work closely with leadership to identify the next generation of sports brands and categories, build strategic partnerships, and support the company's long-term growth and expansion strategy in India.
Key Responsibilities
Global Sports Trend Research
- Continuously monitor emerging sports, recreational activities, and fitness trends across global markets.
- Research consumer behaviour, participation growth, and purchasing trends across North America, Europe, Australia, Japan, and Southeast Asia.
- Identify sports and product categories that have the potential to become the next growth opportunity in India.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly market intelligence reports for leadership.
- Identify innovative international sports brands suitable for exclusive distribution in India.
- Evaluate brands based on product innovation, market positioning, consumer demand, competitive advantage, and growth potential.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective international brand partnerships.
- Initiate communication with global manufacturers and support discussions for exclusive distribution rights.
- Track competitor activities, product launches, pricing strategies, and distribution models within the sports industry.
- Monitor global trade fairs, sports exhibitions, startup ecosystems, crowdfunding platforms, and industry publications.
- Conduct a SWOT analysis and identify white-space opportunities within the Indian sports market.
- Build relationships with international manufacturers, sports brands, distributors, retailers, sports academies, coaches, and industry professionals.
- Represent the company at sports exhibitions, trade shows, networking events, and industry conferences when required.
- Develop long-term partnerships that contribute to business expansion.
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Leadership teams to evaluate new business opportunities.
- Support the successful launch and commercialization of newly acquired brands and product categories.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless onboarding of new distribution partnerships.
- Bachelor's degree or Master's in Sports Management, Business Administration, Marketing, International Business, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in Sports Industry, Category Management, Product Strategy, Market Research, International Business Development, or Brand Partnerships.
- Strong passion for sports with an understanding of global sporting trends and consumer behaviour.
- Excellent analytical, research, presentation, and communication skills.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify business opportunities.
- Ability to independently conduct market research and convert insights into actionable business recommendations.
- Skilled in MS Excel, Google Sheets and other MS Office / G Suite applications with 55+ WPM (Typing Speed)
- Experience working with international sports brands, sporting goods companies, distributors, or sports retailers.
- Exposure to international sourcing, import/export, or global vendor management.
- Experience attending sports expos, trade fairs, or international industry events.
- Familiarity with market intelligence platforms, Google Trends, Statista, Similarweb, or comparable research tools.
- Existing network within the sports industry, including manufacturers, distributors, athletes, or sports federations.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build strategic partnerships.
