Role Description

Underlay is MAVIP's technology services and platforms engine. It builds and runs:

  • AI-native tools & platforms (internal and client-facing)
  • Custom tech solutions for GTM, marketing, research, events, and SaaS use cases
  • MAVIP’s owned IPs and future products (platformization-first mindset)

Underlay is not a traditional IT services shop. It is a product-thinking, solution-led, AI-first technology business.


The Business Head will own revenue, growth, positioning, and commercial success of Underlay.

This role is responsible for:

  • Building Underlay as a scalable, profitable tech business
  • Driving client acquisition, solution packaging, pricing, and GTM
  • Partnering closely with MAVIP leadership on delivery, roadmap, and platforms
  • Owning P&L, growth strategy, and ESOP-linked value creation

This is a builder’s role, not an operator-only role.


Key Responsibilities

Business & Revenue Ownership

  • Own Underlay P&L: revenue, margins, cost control, and growth targets
  • Define annual and quarterly revenue plans across services and platforms
  • Build predictable pipelines: enterprise, mid-market, and internal MAVIP demand
  • Structure pricing, retainers, licensing, and SaaS-style models

Go-To-Market & Positioning

  • Define Underlay’s market positioning (AI-native, platform-led, GTM-aligned)
  • Package offerings into clear solutions, not ad-hoc projects
  • Work with MAVIP GTM engines (Frontlyn, Veritm, The Catalyst, Riveoo) for demand generation
  • Lead pitches, proposals, and strategic client conversations

Client & Partnership Leadership

  • Act as senior business face of Underlay for key clients and partners
  • Build long-term enterprise relationships, not transactional projects
  • Identify and close strategic alliances (cloud, AI, data, security partners)
  • Ensure strong client satisfaction, renewals, and expansion

Product & Platform Collaboration

  • Partner with the Technology Head / CTO on:
  • Platform roadmap and prioritization
  • Product-market fit decisions
  • Build vs buy vs partner strategy
  • Ensure all tech development aligns to commercial outcomes, not vanity builds
  • Drive platformization of repeatable client use cases

Team & Org Building

  • Build and scale business, pre-sales, and solution consulting teams
  • Define roles, KPIs, and performance metrics
  • Mentor high-potential leaders within Underlay
  • Create a culture of ownership, accountability, and execution excellence

Strategic & Founder Collaboration

  • Work closely with Founder & Group Leadership on:
  • Long-term Underlay vision
  • ESOP value creation
  • New IP incubation and spin-offs
  • Represent Underlay in group-level strategic discussions


Ideal Candidate Profile

Experience

  • 10–15 years experience in:
  • Technology services, platforms, SaaS, or digital solutions
  • Building or scaling a tech business or vertical
  • Prior P&L ownership required (non-negotiable)
  • Exposure to AI, platforms, data, cloud, or enterprise tech ecosystems
  • Experience working with founders or leadership teams in growth phases

Skills & Mindset

  • Strong commercial acumen with tech depth
  • Ability to translate technology into business value
  • Structured thinker with execution bias
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and building from zero to scale
  • High ownership mindset; ESOP-oriented thinking
