We are now seeking a Business Development Manager for our fast growing business. The position is based in Pune, India.
Job Description
We are looking for a self-driven water & wastewater professional to front our marketing & sales in India. The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying and developing contracts for industrial process water supply solutions, with specific focus on water recycling and reuse technologies. The position holder taps the market for opportunities, ensures that leads will be successfully converted into Water-as-a-Service contracts with multinational corporations and local conglomerates in India. The successful candidate will proactively engage with potential customers, conduct thorough market analysis, and lead the entire sales cycle from initial contact to contract signing. This position reports to the Business Development Director of WaaS Asia, India.
Key Responsibilities
Market Development & Strategy
· Conduct in-depth market research to identify and analyze key industry trends, competitive landscapes, and
potential growth opportunities.
· Develop and implement effective go-to-market strategies, including target account selection and value
proposition development.
· Present market analysis and strategic recommendations to the management team.
· Building and propagating WaaS Asia brand in the market though networking, social media, trade fairs etc.
Lead Generation & Qualification
· Identify and qualify potential customers within the target industries.
· Research and qualify potential project partners (EPC, O&M) to support business growth.
Customer Relation Management
· Proactively initiate and build strong relationships with prospective and existing customers & project partners
through networking, customer visits, and ongoing communication.
Sales Process Management
· Assess customers’ industrial water process needs through site visits and customer interactions.
· Collaborate with enabling teams (engineering, finance, legal) in Europe & Asia to facilitate and deliver compelling
proposals including feasibility studies. Effectively present proposals to customers, addressing their concerns and
demonstrating the value proposition of our WaaS offering.
· Assess customers decision making process and engage with the stakeholders independently and together with
our global sales organisation, acquire the required approvals for contract signing.
Sales Forecasting & Reporting
· Prepare accurate sales forecasts and provide regular, high-quality sales reports to management.
The candidate will occasionally be involved in various duties outside of their usual scope of work, such as project support and minor administrative tasks as needed.
Experience and Competencies
Key Experiences:
· 8 - 12 years of successful experience in business development, sales / account management within the industrial
water sector (e.g. water treatment, process water, wastewater).
· Proven ability to manage long and complex sales cycle with multinational corporations preferably in food &
beverage/ chemical/ pharmaceutical industries.
· Successful track record in closing deals.
· A good network of contacts with the corporates / MNCs preferably in the above-mentioned industrial sectors.
· Understanding of wastewater and process water treatment technologies including but not limited to ultra-
filtration reverse osmosis and ZLD equipment.
Key Competencies:
· Relevant university degree (Master or Bachelor), e.g. chemical/ environment/ mechanical engineering.
(Business Degree would be an added advantage).
· Proficiency in English.
· Strong computer literacy with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Power Point, Excel).
· Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to read and assess people.
· Problem solving & decision-making capabilities.
· Ability and willingness to travel as required for customer meetings and site visits.
· Ability to work in a multicultural team.
· Having a growth mindset and the willingness to learn.
