Business Analyst – Retail Banking (4‑6 yrs)

Position Overview

The ALMT function manages Asset‑Liabilities Management, treasury, funding and risk‑management activities for the bank. The ALMT IT team delivers the deal‑capture and deal‑processing applications that support these activities. The Business Analyst will work independently within the ALMT IT squad to design, enhance, maintain and support multiple applications, applying continuous‑improvement principles and agile delivery practices.


Job Responsibilities

Core / Direct Responsibilities

  • Interact with functional and technical representatives (product owners, on‑site BAs, business users) to gather, clarify and document business requirements.
  • Produce clear functional specification documents, UML diagrams and prototypes for developers and testers.
  • Collaborate with developers to create test plans; execute integration, regression, performance and functional testing (using automated frameworks where appropriate).
  • Review functional specs, test cases and test results prepared by the IT team; participate in peer‑review sessions.
  • Provide functional support to development and testing teams throughout the software‑development lifecycle.
  • Conduct user‑training sessions and create knowledge‑transfer material; coach teammates to ensure backup coverage.
  • Estimate effort, track schedules and deliver modules on time while adhering to project and organizational standards.
  • Prepare functional release documentation and support out‑of‑hours or daytime production support as needed.
  • Deliver L3 functional support, ensuring issues are prioritized and resolved quickly.
  • Work with cross‑functional teams to solve complex problems and drive process‑efficiency initiatives.
  • Participate in recruitment activities for the team and contribute ideas for innovation and best‑practice improvements.

Contributing Responsibilities

  • Propose and experiment with new practices, tools or automation that could improve efficiency.
  • Help define and refine agile processes and ceremonies within the squad.
  • Support organizational initiatives that enhance delivery quality and speed.


Required Education, Skills and Experience (Must‑Have)

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Domain Knowledge: Solid understanding of retail‑banking products (loans, deposits, etc.) and the trade life‑cycle.
  • Experience: 3 – 6 years as a Business Analyst in the banking/financial services sector, preferably within an IT environment.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong SQL query‑writing ability.
  • Thorough grasp of the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and agile delivery.
  • Proven ability to translate business needs into functional requirements and detailed specifications.
  • Experience preparing requirement documents, functional test cases, and conducting UAT.
  • Behavioral Competencies:
  • Self‑motivated with a continuous‑learning mindset.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and coordination skills.
  • Strong analytical and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while being an effective team player.


Preferred Education, Skills and Experience (Nice‑to‑Have)

  • Domain Extension: Knowledge or hands‑on experience with treasury functions and related business processes.
  • Data‑Management: Familiarity with data‑warehouse concepts and reporting structures.
  • Agile Expertise: Experience actively participating in all agile ceremonies (scrum, sprint planning, retrospectives, etc.) and applying agile best practices.
  • Additional Certifications (optional): CBAP, ISTQB, Agile Scrum Master, or other relevant professional credentials.
