We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer specializing in Battery Design and Battery Management Systems (BMS) to lead the development and optimization of advanced battery solutions for electric mobility, energy storage and related applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in battery pack design, cell selection, BMS architecture, system integration, testing, and validation while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver safe, reliable and high-performance battery systems.
Role & Responsibilities
- Design and develop lithium-ion battery packs and Battery Management Systems (BMS) for energy storage applications in automotive sector with inhouse & outsource partners.
- Define battery architecture, cell selection, module configuration, thermal management, and mechanical packaging.
- Develop and validate BMS algorithms for State of Charge (SOC), State of Health (SOH), cell balancing, fault detection, and battery protection.
- Prepare electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and battery system documentation.
- Coordinate battery pack integration with vehicle or system electrical and mechanical teams.
- Perform battery sizing, performance calculations, thermal analysis, and lifecycle assessments.
- Support hardware and software validation, system testing, and troubleshooting.
- Analyse test data and implement design improvements to enhance performance, safety, and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with applicable automotive and battery safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing teams, and quality departments during product development and production.
- Lead design reviews, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for technical issues.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance throughout project execution.
Mandatory Skills
- Strong understanding of lithium-ion battery technologies, battery chemistry, and battery safety.
- Experience with battery pack architecture, cell selection, thermal management, and system integration.
- Knowledge of BMS hardware, embedded systems, CAN communication, and battery protection strategies.
- Experience with electrical design, testing, validation, and failure analysis.
- Proficiency in engineering tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, AutoCAD, Altium, CATIA, SolidWorks, or equivalent design and simulation software.
- Familiarity with DFMEA, PFMEA, DVP&R, and engineering documentation processes.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
- Experience with electric vehicle (EV) battery systems or energy storage systems (ESS).
- Knowledge of functional safety concepts and battery-related industry standards.
- Experience with battery testing equipment, data acquisition systems, and validation procedures.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes for battery packs and BMS integration.
- Sets up a reuse strategy of requirements and architectural elements.
- Is main contributor to the creation of the feature release plan in close cooperation with the team
- Supports test activities like test case review and to test readiness review.
- Should be well conversant with statistical process analysis and controls.
- Preferred Tools - DOORs NG (Requirement management tool) Or DRM (requirements management tool)

Qualification:
- Master's OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
- Total work experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in battery pack design, Battery Management Systems (BMS), or electric vehicle battery development.
- Experience in Doors & SAP/ERP.
- Well-rounded technical understanding of systems (Mech/HW/SW)
