Job Title: Backend Java Engineer (FileNet Developer)

Location: Onsite Cincinnati, Ohio ( Face to Face interview- Look for locals )

Duration: Long-term Contract

Job Summary

We are seeking a Backend Java Engineer (FileNet Developer) to design and implement custom migration and integration solutions for consolidating FileNet environments. This role involves migrating content, metadata, workflows, and audit history while ensuring data integrity, compliance, and alignment with enterprise standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content & Metadata Migration
  • Identify and migrate documents, metadata, workflows, and lifecycle components
  • Map source data to target FileNet schemas using Java
  • Handle transformations across metadata formats and document structures
  • Ensure accurate migration of versioned documents
  • Preserve document lifecycle states (draft, approved, archived)
  • Maintain retention policies and classifications
  • Audit, Compliance & Data Integrity
  • Migrate audit trails, version history, and security classifications
  • Validate data completeness, accuracy, and integrity
  • Create re-indexing jobs aligned with organizational standards
  • Develop reconciliation processes for migration tracking and reporting
  • Workflow & Process Engine Migration
  • Migrate or recreate workflows from FileNet Process Engine (PE)
  • Ensure correct workflow execution, routing logic, and triggers
  • Validate workflow functionality and exception handling post-migration
  • Integration & Custom Development
  • Develop custom Java code for migration, reporting, and data extraction
  • Reconfigure and support system integrations
  • Build and maintain APIs for upstream/downstream systems
  • Testing & Operational Readiness
  • Perform test migrations using sample datasets
  • Develop rollback and recovery procedures
  • Support defect resolution during testing and production phases
  • General Software Engineering Responsibilities
  • Full lifecycle application development (design, coding, debugging)
  • Requirements analysis, code reviews, and system risk assessment
  • Object-Oriented Analysis & Design (OOA/OOD)
  • Performance tuning and system optimization
  • Software testing and quality assurance
  • Integration with existing enterprise systems
  • Maintain documentation and standards compliance

Required Skills

  • Strong Java backend development experience
  • Experience with FileNet (Content Manager & Process Engine)
  • Knowledge of data migration, transformation, and integration
  • Understanding of object-oriented design and system architecture
  • Experience in API development and system integration
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
  • 0 8 years of relevant experience in software engineering
  • Experience in full software development lifecycle
