Role Overview

The Associate Vice President – Sales will lead and scale a high-volume, sales ecosystem focused on onboarding and activating local merchants through the Google Adwords process. This role holds end-to-end ownership of onboarding volumes, revenue outcomes, client performance, and regional sales productivity, while ensuring governance, compliance, and sustainable growth. The role demands a strategic yet execution-oriented leader with deep expertise in sales, merchant acquisition at scale, and management of large, distributed sales organizations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Sales Growth Strategy
  • Define and execute a scalable sales strategy for merchant onboarding
  • Drive merchant acquisition, activation, and revenue delivery across regions
  • Design and continuously optimize GTM models leveraging channel agencies, and extended field sales networks
  • Identify and launch new partner-led acquisition channels and regional expansion initiatives


Channel Partner Management

  • Build, manage, and scale a robust ecosystem of Digital Marketing Agencies, aggregators, and agencies
  • Establish partner onboarding frameworks, certification standards, incentive structures, and SLAs
  • Monitor partner productivity, onboarding quality, and compliance adherence
  • Lead commercial negotiations, payout mechanisms, and performance-linked incentive models
  • Merchant Onboarding & Activation Excellence
  • Oversee large-scale onboarding of SMBs and local merchants through affiliate-led channels
  • Ensure high standards of listing accuracy, verification, compliance, and activation success
  • Continuously improve conversion across the merchant lifecycle—from lead to onboarded to active merchant
  • Drive consistency and quality of merchant experience across regions


Team Leadership & Organizational Scale

  • Build and lead regional sales managers, partner managers, and city-level leadership teams
  • Manage high-volume field and inside sales teams through affiliate structures
  • Set targets, productivity benchmarks, and performance management frameworks
  • Institutionalize training, certification, and standardized operating processes


Operations, Metrics & Governance

  • Own forecasting, capacity planning, and merchant onboarding performance dashboards
  • Track and optimize KPIs including onboarding volumes, activation rates, cost per onboarding, churn, and affiliate ROI
  • Partner closely with Sales Operations, Finance, Legal, Risk, and Technology teams to ensure operational excellence
  • Ensure adherence to platform policies, brand guidelines, and compliance standards


Cross-Functional & External Collaboration

  • Work closely with external platform partnership teams and internal Product, Marketing, and Operations stakeholders
  • Share merchant and partner insights to improve onboarding tools, processes, and GTM effectiveness
  • Support regional and national launches, campaigns, and scale initiatives


Key Skills & Leadership Competencies

  • Strong expertise in affiliate, channel, and partner-led sales models
  • Deep understanding of merchant acquisition and onboarding at scale
  • Proven ability to lead and scale large, distributed sales organizations
  • Strong commercial acumen with excellent partner negotiation skills
  • Data-driven, process-oriented leader with high execution discipline


Qualifications

  • 10–15+ years of experience in sales, affiliate business, or channel partnerships
  • Experience in platform-led businesses such as Fintech, Telecom, E-commerce, Marketplaces, or Edtech preferred
