Role Description Assistant Professor, Associate professor, role at AMET University Chennai is a full-time, on-site position based in Chennai. The Professor will design and deliver lectures, practical sessions, and seminars in their area of specialization, ensuring alignment with maritime and related academic standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing course materials, supervising student projects and theses, assessing student performance, and providing academic advising and mentoring. The Professor will engage in research, publish scholarly work, and seek funding opportunities to advance their discipline and the university’s reputation. Additional responsibilities include participating in curriculum development, contributing to departmental committees, collaborating with industry and regulatory bodies, and supporting accreditation and quality assurance activities.

Qualifications

  • Strong subject-matter expertise in a relevant discipline Management studies
  • Proven teaching skills in higher education, including course design, lecture delivery, student assessment, and use of modern pedagogical methods and educational technology.
  • Demonstrated research capabilities, including a track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals, conference presentations, and participation in funded research or industry projects.
  • Excellent communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse students, colleagues, and industry partners.
  • Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in a relevant field; exceptional candidates with a master’s degree and significant industry or academic experience may be considered as per regulatory norms.
  • Familiarity with maritime industry standards, regulatory requirements, and professional certifications is highly desirable.
  • Experience contributing to curriculum development, accreditation processes, and academic quality assurance will be an advantage.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment and commitment to student-centered, inclusive teaching practices.
