Job Description
The Associate – ICT plays a critical frontline role in ensuring the smooth and reliable functioning of the organization’s technology environment. The role involves providing day-to-day technical support to users, maintaining the health of systems and networks, and supporting secure, up-to-date, and well-documented IT operations. Through hands-on involvement in installations, troubleshooting, routine maintenance, and coordination with vendors and internal teams, the Associate – ICT minimises disruptions and ensures efficient business operations. This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and essential in bridging the gap between users and the broader IT infrastructure.
This will be a contractual position for an initial term of 11 months, renewable on mutual consent.
Activities and Tasks
Responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, and peripherals;
- Providing technical and troubleshooting support to end-users over the phone, email, or in-person;
- Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks to ensure optimal performance and uptime;
- Performing regular backups and data recovery procedures, as well as implementing security protocols to protect against cyber threats;
- Conducting hardware and software inventory, documentation, and licensing compliance;
- Collaborating with other IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders to implement new technologies and solve complex problems;
- Performing maintenance, upgrades, and patch management to keep systems up-to- date and secure;
- Participating in on-call rotation and providing after-hours support for critical business systems;
- Logging, tracking, and closing tickets in accordance with the SLA; escalating issues as needed;
- Installing, configuring and troubleshooting printers, scanners and related peripheral devices;
- Supporting Wi-Fi access point configuration, network cabling, patching, IP assignments, VLAN updates under guidance;
- Setting up projectors, online meetings, VC equipment and webinars;
- Staying up to date with the latest trends, technologies, and industry best practices to continuously improve technical skills and knowledge;
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather and define the requirements for new features and functionalities;
- Being familiar with backup appliances, NAS/cloud storage and DR testing;
- Providing support to other IIHS activities including academics, research, training, practice, operations and others;
- Participating in all activities of Institution-building at IIHS; carrying out tasks as assigned by IIHS; and travelling on IIHS work within or outside the country as and when needed.
Structure and Reporting
The ICT associate will be an External Consultant coordinating with the Lead — ICT at IIHS and will be required to collaborate effectively with a diverse group of internal teams and external individuals/ organisations, and students.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field;
- 2–4 years of experience in IT Support Services in any industry;
- Strong technical skills and knowledge of various computer systems and software programs;
- Strong commitment to resolving end-user problems;
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- The ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems;
- Excellent communication skills, analytical abilities and interpersonal skills;
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail;
- The ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies;
- Strong time-management, multitasking and teamwork capability.
This is a contractual engagement for an initial term of 11 months, renewable on mutual consent. This offer is on an exclusive basis, which implies that other professional assignments (whether compensated or not) that bear a potential conflict of interest with IIHS cannot be undertaken.
The search will remain open until the position is filled.
Location
This position is based in Bengaluru and may entail travel to other locations in India.
Review and Assessment
The role and performance of the incumbent shall be subject to normal review and assessment systems at IIHS.
