What’s The Role

As an Associate Business Analyst specializing in SAP IS‑OIL, you will play a key role in translating complex, analytical business needs into clear and effective technical solution designs. You will drive detailed requirement clarification, provide accurate effort estimates, and ensure that proposed solutions are both feasible and aligned with business objectives. You will be accountable for delivering high‑quality IT outputs that meet agreed timelines, address stakeholder requirements, and support reliable, efficient, and value‑driven technology operations across Shell.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Drive clarification of complex and analytical requirements from a technical solution‑design perspective and provide accurate effort estimates for proposed solutions.
  • Leverage knowledge assets and senior stakeholder guidance to ensure the delivery of appropriate and effective solutions.
  • Create and update Functional Specifications aligned with technical design requirements.
  • Develop solution designs for reports, interfaces, enhancements, and forms.
  • Participate in blueprint and design sessions, evaluate solution options, and clearly communicate benefits, risks, and constraints to business and IT stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with Design Leads and Application Delivery Leads to ensure new capabilities and business requirements are fully understood and incorporated into delivery items.
  • Support the resolution of production issues by working with the Support Organization and contributing to root-cause analysis.
  • Perform prototyping to validate requirements or address technical design questions.
  • Write test scripts, execute unit and integration testing, and support regression testing activities.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve defects during test cycles and post–go‑live support.
  • Develop runbooks and participate in peer reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Read and interpret data object definitions to support design and troubleshooting activities.
  • Manage batch jobs using scheduling and processing tools.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery that maximizes customer satisfaction.

What You Bring

  • 3–5 years of hands-on functional configuration experience in SAP IS-OIL Downstream.
  • Proven expertise in SAP IS-OIL TD and the Trader’s and Scheduler’s Workbench (TSW), including end-to-end functional design and solution delivery.
  • Solid capabilities in requirements gathering and documentation, particularly from a technical solution design perspective.
  • Techno-functional competencies, including basic ABAP debugging and the ability to interpret and understand code.
  • Experience in SAP SD and MM is a strong advantage.
  • Broad understanding of key SAP IS-OIL processes, including customer and vendor contracts, quotes, pricing, quantity conversions, hydrocarbon product management, exchanges and netting, logical inventory adjustments, TSW ticketing and nominations, excise duty, stock reconciliation and valuation, logistics invoice verification, and workflow.
  • Highly organized and methodical, with the ability to plan and deliver effectively in environments with uncertainty and evolving requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail combined with the ability to maintain oversight across multiple functional streams.
  • Delivery-focused, with a hands-on, “get things done” mindset.
  • Effective team collaborator, especially within virtual and globally distributed teams.
  • Fast learner capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
  • Flexibility in working hours to effectively collaborate with global teams across different time zones.
