Role Description The Assistant Professor Fashion Design is a full-time, on-site position based at GGI in Khanna. The role involves planning and delivering undergraduate fashion design lectures, studio sessions, and workshops that combine theory with practical, industry-relevant projects. Responsibilities include developing course materials, assessing student work, providing constructive feedback, and mentoring learners on academic and portfolio development. The faculty member will participate in curriculum enhancement, departmental meetings, academic events, and fashion showcases, while fostering a creative, inclusive learning environment. The role also includes engaging in academic research or industry collaborations, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of fashion trends and technologies, and contributing to institutional initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in fashion design principles, garment construction, textiles, and pattern making.
  • Ability to guide students in fashion illustration, portfolio development, and concept-driven design projects.
  • Experience integrating industry practices such as trend forecasting, merchandising concepts, and sustainable fashion approaches.
  • Proficiency with relevant design tools and software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, CAD for fashion) is highly beneficial.
  • Master’s degree in Fashion Design or a closely related field from a recognized institution (PhD or research experience is an advantage).
  • Previous teaching, academic mentoring, or training experience in higher education or professional institutes is preferred.
  • Strong communication, classroom management, and collaborative skills, with the ability to work in a multicultural academic environment.
  • Commitment to outcome-based education, student-centered teaching methods, and continuous professional development.
