Assistant / Deputy Manager – Assembly (Machinery)
Department:

Experience Required:
8–10 Years in Assembly / Production Operations (Preferably in Machinery or Capital Equipment Manufacturing)
Role Overview
The Assistant / Deputy Manager – Assembly will be responsible for overseeing and managing the end-to-end assembly operations of machinery. The role ensures timely production, adherence to quality standards, optimal use of resources, and compliance with safety regulations. The incumbent will coordinate cross-functionally to ensure smooth production flow and continuous improvement in assembly processes.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Assembly Management
- Oversee daily assembly operations to ensure timely and efficient production of machinery.
- Plan, schedule, and monitor assembly activities in line with production targets and delivery commitments.
- Set production goals and develop action plans to meet or exceed operational objectives.
- Ensure availability of manpower, tools, and materials for uninterrupted assembly operations.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure all assembled products comply with internal quality standards and regulatory requirements before dispatch.
- Coordinate with the Quality Control team to address non-conformities and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Promote adherence to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and industry quality standards.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate closely with Supply Chain, Design/Engineering, Quality Control, and Stores teams to ensure smooth workflow.
- Participate in design reviews and address assembly-related feasibility and improvement suggestions.
- Ensure timely resolution of inter-departmental dependencies impacting production.
Equipment & Maintenance
- Monitor usage, performance, and condition of assembly equipment and tools.
- Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed and breakdowns are addressed promptly.
- Support implementation of continuous improvement and productivity enhancement initiatives.
Problem Solving & Decision Making
- Identify production bottlenecks, delays, or issues and resolve them effectively.
- Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and optimize costs.
- Prepare and analyze production reports, KPIs, and performance metrics.
Safety & Compliance
- Implement and enforce workplace safety standards, company policies, and statutory regulations.
- Conduct safety briefings and ensure adherence to safe work practices on the shop floor.
- Drive a culture of safety, discipline, and accountability among team members.
Team Management
- Lead, guide, and motivate assembly supervisors, technicians, and operators.
- Evaluate team performance and support training and skill development initiatives.
- Maintain discipline and ensure compliance with organizational policies.
Required Qualifications
- Education:
- Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant technical field.
- Experience:
- 8–10 years of hands-on experience in assembly operations, preferably in Machinery or industrial equipment manufacturing.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of mechanical assembly, production planning, and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of GMP, quality systems, and safety standards relevant to pharmaceutical equipment.
