Role Description The Associate Director – Procurement will lead and manage end-to-end procurement activities to support Plaksha University’s academic, research, and administrative operations. This full-time, on-site role based in Mohali includes developing and implementing procurement policies, sourcing vendors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory guidelines.

The role involves planning and executing procurement for all opex and capex requirements for capital projects, laboratory equipment, IT infrastructure, and services, while optimizing cost, quality, and timelines. The Associate Director will oversee vendor performance, maintain accurate procurement records, collaborate with finance and other departments on budgeting and approvals, and drive process improvements and transparency in procurement operations. The individual will also mentor the procurement team, manage risk and audit requirements, and contribute to long-term procurement strategy aligned with the university’s growth plans.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in procurement and supply chain management, including vendor sourcing, contract negotiation, and category management.
  • Experience in institutional or corporate procurement, preferably in education, research, or allied sectors, with familiarity in capital, IT, and services procurement.
  • Proficiency in procurement systems and tools (e.g., ERP platforms, e-tendering, and vendor management software) and comfort with data-driven decision-making.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory, legal, and compliance frameworks related to procurement, contracts, and audits.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including team management, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and a focus on process optimization and cost efficiency.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to present recommendations and influence stakeholders at multiple levels.
  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, or a related field; professional certifications (preferred)
