Role Description The Area Sales Officer – Retail Sales – TMT is a full-time, on-site role based in Bhubaneswar. This role involves managing and expanding retail sales of TMT bars and related steel products within the assigned territory. The Area Sales Officer will identify and develop new retail channels, build strong relationships with distributors, dealers, and retailers, and follow up on leads to convert them into sales. Daily responsibilities include visiting market partners, understanding customer requirements, providing product information, negotiating pricing within company guidelines, and ensuring order closure and payment collection. The role also includes monitoring competitor activities, preparing regular sales reports, coordinating with internal teams for timely deliveries, and supporting promotional activities to enhance brand visibility and sales performance.
Qualifications
  • Strong customer service and communication skills to manage retailer, dealer, and end-customer interactions effectively.
  • Experience in lead generation and sales operations, including prospecting, follow-up, and order processing.
  • Background in channel sales, preferably in TMT bars, steel products, building materials, or related industries.
  • Good negotiation, relationship-building, and territory management skills.
  • Ability to work on-site in Bhubaneswar with regular field visits across the assigned area.
  • Proficiency in basic MS Office and reporting tools to maintain sales records and prepare market reports.
  • Relevant educational background, such as a diploma or degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; experience in sales may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
  • Self-driven, goal-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently and meet sales targets.
