Role Description The Area Business Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Jalandhar, responsible for driving sales growth and market development within an assigned territory. Daily activities include meeting with distributors, retailers, and farmers to promote Geneva Seeds’ product portfolio, conducting field visits and demonstrations, and gathering market intelligence on crop performance and competitor activity. The role involves planning and executing territory-level sales strategies, managing key accounts, and ensuring availability and visibility of products across the channel. The Area Business Manager collaborates closely with agronomy and marketing teams to support local campaigns, train channel partners on product features, and address customer issues promptly. This position also requires regular reporting on sales performance, forecasting demand, and maintaining accurate records of territory activities.
Qualifications
  • Strong sales, business development, and territory management skills, with the ability to achieve and exceed targets in agricultural or related sectors.
  • Proficiency in relationship-building and stakeholder management, including working with distributors, retailers, and farmers at different scales.
  • Good communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical product benefits in clear, practical terms.
  • Sound understanding of agricultural practices, crop cycles, and local market conditions; prior experience in seeds, agri-inputs, or agribusiness is highly beneficial.
  • Capability to analyze sales data, prepare reports, and use basic digital tools (MS Office, CRM or sales tracking systems) for planning and monitoring.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced qualifications are an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned area and work in field conditions as required.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently while coordinating effectively with cross-functional teams.
