Position Summary

The Exercise/Role Play Director (ERPD) at the US Air Force Expeditionary Center (EC) enhances education and training by providing and directing roler players during practical exercises. This training is for Air Advisors and other airmen who engage with partner nation counterparts in support of Combatant Commands (CCMDs) and their respective Air components. The ERPD supports courses of varying lengths in support of multiple CCMDs and other organizations/mission areas to educate and train personnel to perform security cooperation, security assistance, security force assistance, building partnerships and building partner capacity, irregular warfare (IW), foreign internal defense (FID), counterinsurgency (COIN) and other missions that require airmen to engage with partner nation counterparts.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Develop, plan, coordinate, execute and manage comprehensive Air Advisor-centric exercises designed to evaluate a student’s knowledge and application of Advisor Core Skills and Cross-Cultural Competencies.

Develop and manage fictional partner nation environments.

Develop and manage detailed bios, backstory, and character studies for multiple partner nation roles.

Manage exercise areas, to include preparing appropriate settings and décor that simulate partner nation office space, work space, and social space.

Manage/direct role players on the appropriate behavior and actions required in their role to achieve the desired response from the students.

Coordinate with the Site Manager and Course Director on the total number and target languages of role players required for all practical scenario exercises.

Purchase and deliver authentic ethnic meals and minor ethnically correct supplies for the students as part of culture classes or exercises IAW para 1.6.2.

Coordinate with academic and fieldcraft instructors to integrate learning objectives from all classes into practical scenario exercises in both field and classroom settings.

Coordinate with AA Flight leadership to schedule appropriate training areas and ranges throughout JB-MDL in support of exercises.

Qualifications, Knowledge And Skill Required

  • Shall have deployed as a Military Advisor, Political-Military (Pol-Mil) Affairs Strategists (PAS) Officer, Regional Affairs Strategists (RAS) Officer, Foreign Area Officer (FAO), Foreign Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) member, attaché or security assistance officer (SCO), or in a position equivalent to one of the above having military advisory experience.
  • Shall have practical knowledge of air advising activities to incorporate training objectives into realistic, scenario-based exercises.
  • Shall have experience developing, planning and executing military practical exercises in support of both academic and fieldcraft lessons.
  • Shall have experience as an observer/controller/evaluator for complex military exercises.

Physical And Environmental Requirements

  • May be required to use computer screen for extensive periods of time.
  • Extended working hours and travel may be necessary.
