Job Summary

This role exists because our teams are still doing by hand what machines should be doing automatically to some extent, and that gap is costing us at the speed and scale we're trying to reach. We aim to be an AI Native organization, and the AI Systems Engineer closes it: you find the highest-cost manual processes, build the automations that replace them, and set the standard every team inherits going forward. The people who thrive here see what's broken and start fixing it before anyone asks. If you need a fully defined scope before you start, this isn't the role. If you've already rebuilt, how you work around what AI can do, not bolted it onto old processes, it might be.

Job Responsibilities:

Build

• Audit manual workflows across Finance, Onboarding, CSM, and Product. Design the fix. Ship it. Deprecate the old process.
• Architect the Hyly Wiki i.e. a client intelligence platform that ingests meeting transcripts, enriches with CRM data, and gives every Hylee the context they need before every client call
• Own the full cycle: design → build → document → migrate → sign-off → monitor. Partial migrations don't count.
• Every system you build connects back to a Hylee walking into a client meeting better prepared, or a Finance team that doesn't spend Tuesday afternoon on reconciliation. Keep that line of sight.

Standards

• Define how AI automations are built at Hyly. Every team inherits from what you establish, they don't reinvent from scratch.
• Every workflow you touch becomes a structured, versioned artifact. If it isn't documented, it doesn't exist.
• Encode operational knowledge into a living, queryable intelligence layer. What lives only in people's heads walks out the door with them.

Adoption

• Work with Finance, Onboarding, CSM, TechOps, and Product to surface and prioritize the highest-cost manual workflows
• Drive adoption end to end, so that every automation ships with a migration plan, stakeholder sign-off, and observability. A shipped automation no one uses is a failed migration.

Must Have Qualifications:

• AI fluency (4/5 minimum) i.e. Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or Perplexity in daily use for real work: building, debugging, researching. Not just writing.
• 3+ years building automations, data pipelines, or operational systems that ran in production.
• Hands-on with at least one automation platform (n8n, Zapier, Make, or equivalent), not just set up once.
• You've integrated systems via API: authentication, payloads, webhooks, error handling.
• You can read a business problem and know where the automation will actually move the needle, not just where it's technically possible.
• You can architect from a messy problem statement and tell the difference between something that works and something that's actually right.
• You've built things that ran in production without needing you. Not 'mostly ran.' Ran.
• You document everything as if you're about to hand it off, because you are.
• Self-directed. You don't wait to be told a workflow is broken.

Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Qualifications:

• Claude Code or agentic AI framework experience
• Familiar with Notion, HubSpot, or Google Workspace as operational data sources
• Basic JavaScript or Python for data transformation and scripting
• Experience owning automation standards or documentation frameworks across a team
• SaaS or PropTech background i.e. Finance ops, Client Onboarding, or CSM workflows
