Job Summary

As a Workday Integrations Engineer in BenTech Integrations, you will help build scalable, production-ready integration capabilities that connect Workday and benefits technology platforms with The Standard’s insurance ecosystem. You will design and deliver API-first and event-driven solutions supporting eligibility, enrollment, benefits, billing, and absence data flows. This role requires hands-on Workday integration expertise, strong engineering ownership, and the ability to partner across product, architecture, business, and delivery teams to create reliable, reusable integration services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and support scalable Workday and BenTech integration solutions across benefits, eligibility, enrollment, billing, and absence-related data flows.
  • Develop API-first and event-driven integration capabilities using Workday integration technologies, including Reports-as-a-Service, EIB, Document Transformation, Connectors, Workday Web Services API, Workday REST API, Studio, Extend, and Orchestrations.
  • Partner with product, architecture, business, HRIS/Workday configuration teams, and consulting partners to assess requirements, evaluate configuration impacts, and design reliable integration solutions.
  • Advise on Workday API capabilities, limitations, authentication patterns, and supported security approaches, including x509 token authentication and SAML SSO.
  • Develop and maintain custom applications and integration components using technologies such as Java, XML, XSLT, SOAP, REST, JavaScript, and Python.
  • Thoroughly test integration through unit, integration, regression, and validation testing to ensure production readiness.
  • Analyze the integration landscape to identify and address technical debt related to functionality, performance, error handling, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Implement robust monitoring, logging, alerting, and error-handling mechanisms to improve operational reliability.
  • Debug and troubleshoot integration issues, perform root-cause analysis, and drive timely resolution.
  • Build and automate deployment of components and solutions into production while maintaining high-quality engineering standards.
  • Provide senior-level technical leadership in a matrixed, multi-vendor, onshore/offshore delivery model.
  • Ability to work on-site in Bengaluru, India is a requirement of the role.

Mode of Working: This role follows a hybrid work model, with a primary base in Bengaluru. While on-site presence is essential for key engagements, flexibility is offered for remote work based on business needs and team alignment.

Skills And Background You’ll Need

Education: Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.

Experience: 8+ years of related engineering experience, including 4+ years of hands-on Workday integration development.

  • Strong proficiency in Workday Reporting, Integrations, Business Processes, and Security Frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of Workday integration patterns, web services, APIs, and enterprise integration design.
  • Experience working with benefits administration, carrier integrations, HRIS platforms, or related insurance ecosystem integrations.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex production issues.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities while maintaining focus on delivery quality and operational reliability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across business, product, architecture, and engineering teams.
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira.
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages and platforms, including Java, REST, Angular, HTML5, and data platforms.
  • Familiarity with developing applications and services in cloud environments such as Azure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Workday modules such as Core HCM, Compensation, Recruiting, Benefits, US Payroll, Absence Management, and Time Tracking.
  • Strong experience using XSLT to transform XML data from Workday reports and web service responses.
  • Strong experience with industry-standard web services technologies, including WSDL, SOAP, REST, and WS-* standards.
  • 2+ years of experience in Workday Extend development.
  • Workday Pro certifications in Integration Administration or Workday Studio.
  • Experience with group benefits carrier integrations involving client Workday systems.
