Role Overview
The Web Developer will design, build, and maintain websites and web applications for Loch and its clients. Working closely with the IT and marketing functions, the Web Developer will take ownership of front-end and back-end development tasks, ensuring that digital properties are functional, secure, and performant. This role suits a developer with solid hands-on experience who can work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and maintain websites and web applications for internal and client use
- Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code across front-end and back-end components
- Collaborate with design and content teams to implement layouts, features, and functionality accurately
- Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, performance issues, and cross-browser compatibility problems
- Ensure websites are responsive, accessible, and optimised for performance and search visibility
- Manage hosting environments, content management systems, and routine site maintenance
- Apply security best practices to protect websites and underlying data
- Conduct testing prior to deployment and support post-launch monitoring
- Maintain technical documentation for developed features and system configurations
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving development standards and practices
Key Deliverables
- Features and fixes delivered within agreed timelines and to specification
- Websites and applications maintained with minimal defects and downtime
- Documentation kept current for all major features and configurations
- Security and performance standards maintained across managed properties
Required Skills and Attributes
- Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with experience in at least one modern framework
- Working knowledge of back-end development, APIs, and database integration
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of responsive design, web performance, and basic SEO principles
- Good written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise tasks independently
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Two to three years of experience in web development
