Volunteer Developer – Tools & Systems (Football Academy)

YFC Rurka Kalan is a community development organization that uses the power of sport to drive social change and empower young people. Through its three core pillars—Sport for Development, Sport for Excellence, and Community Development—YFC works to build life skills, nurture talent, and strengthen communities.

Operating across Punjab, Maharashtra, and Gujarat, YFC has directly impacted over 25,000 children and youth, with nearly 1 million people reached indirectly. The organization focuses on long-term, sustainable change through structured programs, community engagement, and youth leadership.

This is a remote volunteer role for a Developer to support the design and development of practical digital tools for YFC’s football academy and community programs.

The role focuses on building simple, usable, and scalable systems that improve how data is collected, tracked, and used across programs. This includes working on tools such as attendance automation, player tracking systems, coach evaluation workflows, and basic dashboards.

You will collaborate closely with program teams to translate real-world needs into functional digital solutions, ensuring systems remain easy to use for non-technical users (coaches, staff, and youth leaders).

The goal is not just to build software, but to create systems that work consistently in a grassroots environment.

• Develop and improve data systems using Google Sheets and automation tools
• Build and maintain scripts (e.g., Google Apps Script) for workflow automation
• Design simple dashboards or interfaces for easy access to data
• Support development of game-based learning tools (e.g., football decision-making tools)
• Troubleshoot issues and ensure systems run reliably
• Collaborate with non-technical teams to simplify processes and improve usability
  

Core (Important):

• Basic to intermediate knowledge of JavaScript
• Experience with Google Sheets /Excel (advanced usage)
• Familiarity with Scripts or willingness to learn quickly
• Strong problem-solving and logical thinking ability
• Ability to build simple, practical solutions (not over-engineered systems)

Good to Have:

• Experience with HTML, CSS, basic frontend development
• Familiarity with React / Node.js (useful for future tools)
• Exposure to AppSheet, Firebase, or similar tools
• Experience building dashboards, tools, or automation workflows
• GitHub or portfolio with real projects

• Interest in sport, youth development, or social impact work

• This is a volunteer (unpaid) role
• Selected candidates will receive a certificate/letter of contribution
• Duration: 1-2 months (extendable to paid internship based on performance and interest)
• High-performing individuals may be considered for future full-time or paid opportunities with YFC
