Video & Photo Editor | Fashion | Someone with Good Taste
Forge Labs
Job Description
We're hiring someone who genuinely has an eye for this stuff. Not "I use Photoshop" we mean someone who looks at a raw shoot and already knows which frame is the hero, which cut makes the reel actually watchable, and which grade will make a product look like it belongs on the brand's page.
You'll be working across three fashion brands, and honestly that's the fun part and the hard part. Each one has its own personality: one's clean and minimal, another's louder and trend-driven, the third does its own thing. You need to be able to jump between them and still make each one feel right, without everything starting to look the same because it came out of the same laptop.
Video
- Editing reels, UGC, campaign videos, ads: the stuff that has to hold attention in the first two seconds
- Understanding how to edit for different platforms is essential. A great YouTube edit is not the same as a great IG Reel. Knowing how each platform works and tailoring your editing style accordingly is very important.
- Working with trending audio/transitions when it makes sense, skipping it when it doesn't
- Color grading so footage actually looks like it's from the brand it's for
Photo
- Retouching product and campaign shoots to a proper commercial standard
- Compositing, color correction, cleanup: the usual, done well
- Taking one shoot and adapting it across formats (feed, story, banner, product page) without it feeling like a lazy crop job
The part that matters most
This role is really about taste. You should be able to look at something and immediately know if it fits Brand A but not Brand B, and be able to explain why if someone asks. If something's technically fine but just feels flat, you should be comfortable saying so and fixing it. You're the last pair of eyes before anything goes live, so if it's not right, it shouldn't ship.
Day to day
- Managing multiple briefs and deadlines across three brands at once
- Keeping raw and edited files organized (no one wants to hunt for a file at 11pm before a launch)
- Working closely with the content strategist, photographers and founders so the final edit actually matches what was intended
- Fresher / 1+ years of experience editing both video and photo: not just one or the other
- Please attach your resume along with your portfolio or samples of your previous work when applying. This is a mandatory requirement, and applications submitted without a portfolio or work samples will not be considered.
- A portfolio that shows range, not just one look repeated
- Comfortable in Premiere Pro / Final Cut / DaVinci Resolve
- Comfortable in Photoshop / Lightroom
- A real eye for fashion: proportion, color, mood, styling
- Can work fast without cutting corners (fashion e-com moves quickly, deadlines are real)
- Can keep three different brand identities straight without mixing them up
- Basic motion graphics/animation skills
- Some shooting experience (makes you a better editor)
- Actually spends time on Instagram/TikTok/YT studying what works, not just scrolling
