The Highways team are looking to recruit 3x Trainee Highways Operatives (2 Year Fixed Term Contract) to help maintain the streets and footpaths of Darlington.

The work will involve learning all aspects of highway works including paving, kerbing, tarmac, concrete and drainage on maintenance and major scheme works.

No previous knowledge is required as full training will be provided. However, you must be committed to working towards and obtaining NVQ Level 2 in Highways Construction.

The Trainee Highways Operative is paid on the Craft 2 Trainee Rate and the rate you will be paid is dependent on your age upon commencement in post. The rate of pay will also increase with each year of study. Below are the current rates of pay.

Year 1 = £16,577 - £25,619 per annum

Year 2 = £21,098 - £27,126 per annum
