Role Description This full-time Toolmaker role is based in Coimbatore and follows a hybrid work model, combining on-site responsibilities with some work-from-home flexibility where tasks permit. The Toolmaker will build, repair, and maintain molds, dies, jigs, fixtures, and other precision tooling used in plastics manufacturing, ensuring tools meet specifications and production requirements. Day-to-day work includes reading and interpreting technical drawings, setting up and operating conventional and CNC machines, and performing accurate measurements and inspections. The role involves collaborating with engineering, production, and quality teams to troubleshoot tooling issues, improve tool designs, and support efficient, safe production. The Toolmaker is also expected to document work performed, follow safety and quality standards, and participate in preventive maintenance and continuous improvement activities.

Qualifications

  • Strong machining and toolmaking skills, including experience with milling, turning, grinding, and basic CNC operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications, and apply precision measurement techniques.
  • Knowledge of mold and die construction for plastics or related manufacturing environments, including repair and maintenance practices.
  • Understanding of shop safety procedures, quality standards, and basic troubleshooting of tooling and equipment issues.
  • Relevant technical diploma or certification in Tool & Die Making, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience is an advantage.
  • Solid problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Willingness to work in a hybrid model based in Coimbatore and to adapt to changing production priorities.
