Junior QE Automation Engineer

Job Summary

The Junior QE Automation Engineer is responsible for developing, executing, and maintaining automated test scripts to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of web and API applications. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, performing functional and automation testing, identifying defects, and supporting continuous integration and delivery processes.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain automated test scripts for web and API applications.
Execute functional, regression, integration, smoke, and sanity testing.
Perform API testing using Postman or similar tools.
Identify, log, track, and verify software defects.
Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, and product teams to understand business requirements.
Participate in test planning, test case design, test execution, and defect reporting.
Maintain test documentation, execution reports, and quality metrics.
Support CI/CD testing and automation processes.
Perform debugging and root cause analysis for test failures.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to automation framework improvements.
Ensure software quality standards are met before production releases.

Must Have Skills

1–3 years of experience in QA Automation or Software Testing.
Hands-on experience with automation testing for web applications.
Knowledge of API testing using Postman or similar tools.
Good understanding of Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Experience in functional, regression, integration, and smoke testing.
Basic knowledge of automation frameworks and scripting.
Experience with defect tracking tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
Basic understanding of Git or other version control systems.
Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and teamwork skills.

Good to Have Skills

Knowledge of Selenium WebDriver or Playwright.
Basic programming knowledge in Java, Python, or JavaScript.
Familiarity with REST APIs and JSON.
Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
Knowledge of SQL and database validation.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
ISTQB Foundation certification is an added advantage.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
