Technical Lead - Network Security

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Technical Lead to join our Network Security team. This is a senior, hands-on role responsible for providing technical leadership across projects, operational support, and ongoing security improvements. You will act as the primary technical contact for project requirements, lead technical escalations for BAU issues, drive the resolution of complex problem tickets, and proactively manage risk across our network security estate.

This role is ideal for someone who combines deep technical expertise, enjoys solving complex problems, and is passionate about automation, secure design, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Serve as the technical authority for all Network Security related requirements across projects.
• Work closely with architects, project managers, and engineers to define solutions aligned with security standards and operational readiness.

Operational Excellence

• Act as Tier‑3 escalation point for advanced BAU incidents and technical troubleshooting.
• Own and resolve complex problem tickets, performing root-cause analysis and driving long-term fixes.

Security Design & Implementation

• Support designs for firewalls, load balancers, WAF, SASE, PKI, and secure connectivity solutions.
• Lead the delivery and implementation of network security improvements across on-prem and cloud environments.

Risk & Governance

• Identify, document, and manage risks within the network security domain.
• Ensure compliance with corporate standards, audit requirements, and best practices.

Automation & Reduction of Toil

• Reduce repetitive, manual “click‑ops” work by introducing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
• Develop reusable templates and automation pipelines using Terraform, GitHub, Azure DevOps, and other toolsets.
• Drive operational maturity by standardising deployments and eliminating configuration drift.

Team Enablement

• Support and mentor engineers within the team, helping them grow technical capability across all Network Security technologies.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing, documentation, and cross-skilling initiatives.

Key Skills & Technologies

Core Network Security Expertise

• Firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Check Point)
• Load balancers / ADCs (F5, A10, Cloudflare, etc.)
• Web Application Firewalls (WAF)
• SASE platforms (e.g., Netskope, Zscaler, Cloudflare One)
• PKI and certificate lifecycle management
• API security concepts, bot protection, DNS security

Automation & IaC

• Terraform (modules, state management, pipelines)
• Infrastructure as Code principles
• CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
• Declarative configuration and automation tooling

Networking Fundamentals

• Routing & switching (OSPF, BGP, VLANs, virtual networking)
• Application delivery and traffic flows
• DNS, TLS, certificate management

Other desirable capabilities

• Experience on cloud platforms (Azure/AWS)
• Understanding of Zero Trust and modern security architectures
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
