About the role:

We're hiring a Technical Lead — Frontend who can do more than ship features: someone who raises the ceiling of the entire team. You'll own frontend architecture end-to-end, set the bar for engineering quality through deep, instructive code reviews, and build a team that ships faster and cleaner by weaving Claude and modern AI tooling into every part of the workflow — from design to debugging to documentation.

This is a rare role for someone who is genuinely senior — not just by years, but by judgment. You think in systems, communicate with precision, and treat mentorship as a craft. If you've outgrown writing tickets and want to shape how a team thinks, this is for you.

What You'll Own

• Frontend architecture — design and evolve a scalable React.js / TypeScript codebase: state strategy, module boundaries, design systems, performance budgets, and observability.
• Team leadership — lead, mentor, and grow a team of 4 engineers through 1:1s, growth plans, thoughtful task allocation, and unblocking work daily.
• Code review culture — set and uphold an exceptional review bar. Your reviews should teach, not just gate: spotting architectural drift, unsafe patterns, and missed edge cases while elevating engineers in the process.
• AI-first engineering — define how the team uses Claude and AI coding assistants for development, reviews, test generation, refactors, and documentation. Build internal prompt libraries, evaluation loops, and guardrails so AI compounds our velocity without compromising quality.
• Performance and quality — own Core Web Vitals, bundle size, rendering performance (including canvas and animation-heavy surfaces), accessibility (WCAG), and a comprehensive testing strategy.
• Real-time experiences — architect WebSocket / streaming-first features that power our conversational AI product surfaces.
• Cross-functional partnership — work shoulder-to-shoulder with Product, Design, Backend, and ML to translate ambiguity into shipped, reliable software.
• Hiring and culture — interview, calibrate, and help grow the bar for the frontend org as we scale.

Must-Haves

• 6-8 years in frontend engineering, with at least 1+ year formally leading a team (not just being "senior" on one).
• Deep, current expertise in React.js, TypeScript, modern JavaScript (ES2022+), and at least one mature state management approach (Redux Toolkit, Zustand, Jotai, or similar).
• Demonstrable track record of architecting large-scale frontend systems — design systems, monorepos, micro-frontends, module federation, or comparable complexity.
• Exceptional code review craft — you can articulate why a piece of code is good or bad in ways that change how engineers think.
• Hands-on, daily use of Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar AI tools in your own workflow, and a clear point of view on how to roll them out across a team.
• Strong performance engineering chops — profiling, rendering optimization, lazy loading, memoization, canvas/WebGL where relevant.
• Mature testing discipline — Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright/Cypress, and an instinct for what should and shouldn't be tested.
• Production experience with WebSockets / real-time systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication — you write design docs people actually want to read.
• Mild working knowledge of Angular is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Experience shipping with Next.js, SSR/SSG, edge rendering, or React Server Components.
• Comfort dipping into Node.js / backend services when the role demands full-stack instincts.
• Background in AI-powered or conversational products (LLM-driven UIs, voice, agents).
• Open-source contributions, technical writing, or conference talks.
• Hands-on with CI/CD, observability, and feature flagging for frontend.
