Job Description: Tech Lead – Engineering (Integrations & Platform)

Shift timings- 2PM-10PM (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday- WFO)

About The Role

We are a US-based healthcare startup building mission-critical software that integrates with a wide variety of third-party systems. We’re looking for a Tech Lead to lead a team of backend-heavy engineers, own system architecture, and drive reliable, scalable integrations in a fast-moving startup environment.

This role is primarily technical leadership and people management, with hands-on coding being optional but encouraged when needed. You’ll report to a Senior Engineering Manager and play a key role in shaping both the technical direction and engineering culture as we scale.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture

• Own system architecture and technical design decisions across the platform
• Lead the design, implementation, and evolution of complex third-party integrations,

○ API-based integrations

○ Automation-based integrations (including browser automation / spoofing patterns)

○ Windows-based RPA workflows

• Ensure high reliability, fault tolerance, and observability across integration systems
• Anticipate integration failures and design robust retry, monitoring, and alerting

Team Leadership & Management

• Lead and mentor a team of 7+ engineers, primarily backend-focused
• Set technical direction, conduct design reviews, and raise the overall engineering bar
• Gradually take ownership of performance reviews, career development, and hiring
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement
  
  

Execution & Operations

• Be responsible for on-call ownership and incident response for critical systems
• Lead root cause analysis for production issues and drive long-term fixes
• Balance fast delivery with the need to introduce process and operational rigor as the team scales
  
  

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Product Managers to translate product requirements into technical solutions
• Partner with stakeholders to prioritize work across reliability, features, and technical debt
• Communicate technical trade-offs clearly to non-technical audiences when needed
  
  

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• 2+ years of experience managing or leading engineering teams
• Strong backend engineering background with TypeScript and PostgreSQL
• Experience owning or designing distributed systems or integration-heavy platforms
• Proven ability to operate in ambiguous, fast-paced startup environments
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, especially in production systems
  
  

Nice to Have

• Hands-on coding experience in recent roles
• Experience with RPA tools or automation frameworks
• Familiarity with healthcare systems or regulated environments
• Exposure to designing integration frameworks or platform abstractions
  
  

Working Model

• Location: Hybrid – Gurgaon
• Working Hours: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM IST
• Reporting To: Senior Engineering Manager
