Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience programming in C++.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
  • 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
  • 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining large-scale distributed systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.

Google Compute Engine (GCE) is the foundation of Google Cloud Platform, providing Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) to millions of customers worldwide. We are looking for a experienced software engineering manager to join our dynamic team responsible for innovating at scale in virtualized storage, networking, telemetry, and customer workload management. This role will have a direct impact on the continued success of GCE by ensuring scalable, and infrastructure that powers virtual machine instances and bare metal solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Build developed the world's most innovative compute infrastructure solutions that enable business growth for various AI/ML, specialized and general purpose VMs.
  • Provide a long-term goal to build to provide training, interference and high computing VM families. This entails owning responsibility of enabling the technology to deliver these VM families, ensuring their availability, reliability, and performance, working closely with partner teams to realize the goal.
  • Set clear product expectations with teams and leadership individuals based on their level and role and aligned to the broader organization's goals.
  • Design, guide and vet systems designs within the scope of the broader area, and write product or system development code to solve ambiguous problems.
