Job Title : Staff Platform Engineer Location: Bangalore Business & Team: Enterprise Services (ES) is responsible for the world leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of CommBank, from innovative product platforms for our customers to essential tools within our business. We also use technology to drive efficient and timely processing, an essential component of great customer service. You will be working as a part of Lending & Integrated Channels Technology to achieve their strategic objectives through planning, prioritising, delivering and supporting projects and initiatives. Your team?s success will be realised through partnering with business and IT teams across both Lending & Integrated Channels business domain and Technology to deliver beautiful experiences and exceptional capabilities to our branch applications. Our solutions are relied upon and trusted by millions of Australians everyday so we put a great deal of emphasis on reliability, performance, security and ease of use. Participate as a member of the software development team with minimal supervision and occasional guidance. Contribute to the development of estimation, design, installation, configuration, integration and productionising of information technology system components. Ensure rapid, automated and safe deployment of technical solutions. Participate in the assimilation of platforms into their ecosystems, concentrating on all aspects of the stack including hardware and networking, data handling and the flow through to the application and its integration points. Impact & Contribution Focus on non-functional requirements such as security, reliability, performance, maintainability, scalability and usability. Provide local technical support and assistance to non-technical members of the team. Take on support and technical troubleshooting responsibility for production systems. Drive continuous improvements for the system and team processes. Roles & Responsibilities: Set strategy & roadmap for squad?owned platform products and services Translate business goals into clear technical direction and design Shape the multi?module Murex architecture - partner across domains to influence strategy, roadmap, and architectural decisions across Murex modules Own Murex integrations from design to implementation, delivering measurable value across Global Technology Services portfolio Anticipate and mitigate technical risk - assess design/solution risks early, propose alternatives, and drive resolution Guide evolution to target architecture - define transitional states and facilitate migration from current to target platforms Advocate for engineering principles, patterns, standards, and guidelines across projects and programs Review and approve solution designs - evaluate target architectures for fitness, security, reliability, and cost; provide actionable feedback Collaborate cross?functionally - work closely with product, platform, security, and business stakeholders to align on outcomes and delivery Scan and adopt emerging technologies - evaluate tools and techniques Lead design forums & mentor engineers - facilitate solution design discussions, upskill the team, and coach junior engineers Provide technical leadership at portfolio level - set the bar for design quality, delivery practices, and operational readiness across initiatives Essential Skills: Minimum of 12+ years experiences Software Engineering and DevOps Experience in AWS Cloud and experiences in Murex Technical Experience in implementing cloud technologies in AWS Working experience with Cloud technologies on AWS (networking, CDK are highly desirable) Strong in Python and Java Hands-on experience in DevOps, CI-CD pipelines Linux/Unix administration and database experience (e.g. Amazon RDS for Oracle) Technical solution ownership: leads design forums, provides guidance to engineers, and drives solutions from concept to production. Effective collaborator within a DevOps model, partnering with product, platform, and wider IT delivery teams Sound understanding of SDLC, engineering principles/patterns, and design methodologies; advocates and enforces standards across teams Good to have experience with monitoring tools like Splunk, Obstack, PagerDuty, Grafana Good to have Murex technical expertise across configuration, integration, performance, and operations and knowledge of Murex architecture Good to have knowledge of Murex or any trading application integrations with external systems (files/APIs/messaging), plus upgrade/migration experience Education Qualifications: Bachelor?s degree/master?s degree in engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology
