Summary Of The Staff Database Engineer We are looking for a Staff Database Engineer to join one of our Engineering organization. You will have the opportunity to work in healthcare software, an exciting and growing area. You will work with a variety of technologies and develop new features and capabilities for our healthcare software solutions. Successful candidates enjoy working in a collaborative environment, contributing to team decision-making, and building great software. The Staff Database Engineer will design, implement, and maintain robust database systems to support healthcare applications and data workflows. This role requires expertise in SQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle, ensuring compliance with healthcare data standards (HIPAA, HL7) and optimizing performance for mission-critical systems. Key Responsibilities Design and manage relational database systems (PostgreSQL, Oracle) for healthcare applications. Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers. Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with healthcare regulations. Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies. Collaborate with application developers and integration teams for data exchange (HL7, FHIR). Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues proactively. Support ETL processes and data migration between systems. Required Qualifications Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. 10 + years of experience in database engineering with SQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle. Strong understanding of healthcare data standards (HIPAA, HL7, FHIR). Experience with performance tuning and query optimization. Knowledge of database security and encryption techniques. Preferred Qualifications Experience with cloud-based databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL). Familiarity with Mirth Connect or other healthcare integration engines. Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Shell) for automation. Competencies Analytical thinking and problem-solving. Strong communication and collaboration skills.
