Job Summary

The Senior Purchase Engineer – Machining is responsible for sourcing, procurement, and vendor management of machined components used in pharmaceutical machinery manufacturing. The role involves vendor development, cost optimization, ensuring quality compliance, and timely procurement aligned with production schedules.


Key Responsibilities

1. Procurement & Sourcing

  • Handle end-to-end procurement of machined components (SS fabrication parts, CNC/VMC machined parts, precision components).
  • Floating RFQs, techno-commercial evaluation, and finalization of vendors.
  • Ensure timely placement of Purchase Orders as per production and project requirements.

2. Vendor Development & Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and develop new vendors for machining and fabrication.
  • Conduct vendor audits and capability assessments.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing vendors for quality and delivery performance.

3. Cost Optimization

  • Perform cost analysis and benchmarking.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives through negotiation, alternate sourcing, and value engineering.
  • Monitor market trends for raw materials like Stainless Steel (SS304, SS316).

4. Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure procured materials meet required technical specifications and pharma compliance standards.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC for inspection and vendor quality improvements.
  • Ensure documentation compliance as per GMP requirements.

5. Coordination & Planning

  • Work closely with Production, Design, and Planning teams.
  • Follow up with vendors for timely delivery to meet production deadlines.
  • Resolve supply chain issues proactively.

6. Documentation & MIS

  • Maintain purchase records, vendor database, and comparative statements.
  • Prepare MIS reports on procurement, vendor performance, and cost savings.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5–8 years of experience in purchase of machined components in pharma machinery or similar industries.


Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of machining processes (CNC, VMC, turning, milling, fabrication).
  • Expertise in Stainless Steel materials used in pharma equipment.
  • Negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Understanding of pharma industry standards (GMP, documentation).
  • ERP knowledge (SAP / Oracle / similar systems preferred).
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
