Job Title: Senior Accountant
Job Location: 100% Remote – Must reside in EST or CST
Compensation: $100k–$120k base + Bonus ($6k–$10k) + Comprehensive Health Benefits + 401k with 6% Match

Job Details
The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting accurate and timely financial reporting under both GAAP and statutory accounting principles (SAP) within a Property & Casualty insurance environment. This role focuses on financial statement preparation, regulatory reporting, and general ledger oversight while ensuring compliance with insurance reporting standards. The position partners closely with accounting leadership, auditors, and regulatory bodies to maintain reporting accuracy and meet statutory filing deadlines. The ideal candidate brings strong insurance accounting experience, a solid understanding of statutory reporting requirements, and working knowledge of both GAAP and SAP financial principles.

- CPA designation

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Prepare GAAP and statutory (SAP) financial statements and regulatory filings, including NAIC quarterly and annual statements, while ensuring compliance with FASB, NAIC, and state insurance regulations.
- Manage general ledger activity including reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and month-end/quarter-end close processes to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Support statutory reporting requirements and collaborate with actuarial teams to validate reserves, premiums, and claims-related financial data.
- Partner with external auditors and regulatory examiners while assisting with premium tax filings, audit documentation, and compliance reporting.
- Contribute to system improvements, reporting automation, and special projects such as system conversions or operational initiatives.
- Last 5+ yrs of experience working in Statutory & GAAP accounting for small-mid-sized Property & Casualty Insurance company(ies)
- Experience with NAIC quarterly and annual filings
- Experience preparing or supporting the Annual Statement (Yellow Book)
