About the Role

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 7+ years of experience in SDET, Test Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, or Automation Engineering.
• Proven experience building mock services, simulators, and test data generation frameworks.
• Strong AWS automation and Infrastructure-as-Code expertise.
• Strong hands-on Playwright automation experience for UI and end-to-end testing.
• Experience creating and managing ephemeral cloud environments for testing.
• Strong understanding of microservices, APIs, distributed systems, and CI/CD practices.

Key Responsibilities

Service Virtualization, Simulators & Mock Data

• Design and implement service virtualizations, mocks, stubs, and simulators for third-party APIs and dependencies.
• Create configurable mock services that simulate:
• Success and failure scenarios
• Timeouts and latency
• Rate limiting
• Authentication failures
• Edge-case behaviors
• Create and maintain realistic synthetic/mock test data for functional, integration, regression, and performance testing.
• Develop automated test data generation frameworks that support various test scenarios and environments.
• Ensure mock services and test data remain aligned with production contracts and third-party API specifications.
• Maintain reusable test environments and dependency simulators for multiple product teams.

Cloud Test Environment Automation

• Provision AWS infrastructure dynamically for test execution.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using:
• Terraform
• AWS CloudFormation
• AWS CDK
• Automate creation and teardown of:
• VPCs
• ECS/EKS clusters
• Lambda functions
• API Gateway
• Databases (RDS/DynamoDB)
• S3 resources
• Build ephemeral environments that can be spun up on demand and automatically destroyed after test completion.
• Optimize AWS utilization and testing costs.

UI, API & End-to-End Automation

• Develop and maintain automated test using Playwright.
• Create robust UI, API, and end-to-end test suites that run against dynamically provisioned environments.
• Integrate Playwright automation into CI/CD pipelines.
• Automate validation of mocked third-party services through UI and API workflows.
• Support regression, integration, and smoke testing across multiple environments.

Test Automation Platform

• Integrate environment provisioning into CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop frameworks for:
• End-to-end testing
• Integration testing
• Contract testing
• Performance testing
• Enable parallel test execution across multiple feature branches.
• Build self-service testing capabilities for engineering teams.

DevOps & Observability

• Monitor test environments and test infrastructure health.
• Automate logging, tracing, and diagnostics.
• Troubleshoot environment, infrastructure, and dependency failures.
• Improve test reliability, scalability, and execution speed.

Required Skills

Programming & Automation

• Strong experience in Java, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, or Go.
• Experience building scalable test frameworks and automation platforms.

Playwright Expertise

• Strong hands-on experience with Playwright.
• UI, API, and end-to-end automation using Playwright.
• Cross-browser testing (Chrome, Edge, Firefox).
• CI/CD integration of Playwright test suites.
