Role Overview We are looking for a Software Development Engineer 2 to join our Growth Apps team , which is responsible for driving new tool development, user retention, monetization, cross-sell, internationalization, payments, and growth experimentation across QuillBot?s products. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in building full-stack applications that directly impact millions of users and enjoys working in fast-paced, experiment-driven environments. You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and data engineers to deliver features and experiments that accelerate QuillBot?s growth. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain full-stack systems that power growth initiatives such as retention campaigns, monetization flows, cross-sell features, and internationalization. Build and iterate on A/B experiments and growth experiments to optimize conversion, engagement, and retention. Own end-to-end delivery of projects: from requirements gathering and design, through implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring. Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, data engineers, and analysts to ensure growth initiatives are data-informed and measurable. Ensure scalability, performance, and quality of systems that impact millions of users globally. Contribute to engineering best practices, including code reviews, testing strategies, and automation. Stay updated on modern frontend and backend technologies to continuously improve development speed, quality, and user experience. Help create prototypes and proofs-of-concept for rapid iteration. Qualifications 3?6 years of professional software development experience working on scalable full-stack or frontend/backend applications. Strong and hands-on experience in JavaScript/TypeScript , ReactJS , NodeJS , and related web technologies. Solid understanding of API design, system architecture, and databases (SQL/NoSQL). Experience building data-driven systems or integrating with analytics frameworks (e.g., Amplitude, Mixpanel, GA4) to run experiments. Demonstrated ability to work on features that directly drive growth metrics like retention, conversion, monetization, or internationalization. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to take ownership and deliver in ambiguous situations. Excellent communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders. Startup mindset with high willingness to learn, adapt, and move fast. Bonus Points Experience with subscription billing systems, payment gateways, internationalization/localization frameworks, or referral/viral growth systems. The base pay for this position depends on multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed below.
