Desired Competencies (Technical/Behavioral Competency)

Must-Have**

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in Siemens PLC programming and industrial automation.
• Strong expertise in Siemens TIA Portal and STEP 7.
• Experience with Siemens S7-1200, S7-1500, S7-300, and S7-400 PLCs.
• Proficiency in PLC programming languages: LAD, FBD, SCL, and STL.
• Experience in WinCC Professional, WinCC Unified, and HMI development.
• Hands-on experience in PLC commissioning, startup support, FAT, and SAT activities.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills for automation systems.
• Experience with industrial communication protocols:

• Experience in integrating PLCs with SCADA, MES, Historians, and third-party systems.
• Ability to create and review control narratives, FDS, SDS, I/O lists, and technical documentation.

Good-to-Have

• Experience with Siemens PCS7 and DCS systems.
• Knowledge of Siemens Industrial Edge solutions.
• Experience with SINAMICS Drives and motion control applications.
• Exposure to Safety PLCs (Failsafe Systems) and machine safety concepts.
• Understanding of OT Cybersecurity, IEC 62443, and industrial network segmentation.
• Experience integrating automation systems with IIoT platforms such as Litmus, HighByte, Kepware, or MQTT architectures.
• Knowledge of SQL databases and reporting solutions.
• Exposure to Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
• Siemens certification (TIA Portal/Automation Engineer) preferred.
• Experience working in Automotive, FMCG, Food & Beverage, Pharmaceutical, Chemical, or Manufacturing industries.

Responsibility of / Expectations from the Role

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Siemens PLC applications using TIA Portal and STEP 7.
• Configure and program Siemens S7 PLCs and associated HMI/SCADA systems.
• Perform FAT, SAT, commissioning, startup, and production support activities.
• Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, network, and field device issues to minimize plant downtime.
• Integrate PLCs with drives, instruments, robots, SCADA, MES, Historians, and enterprise applications.
• Configure and troubleshoot industrial communication networks including PROFINET, PROFIBUS, Modbus TCP/IP, and OPC UA.
• Develop and maintain automation documentation, network diagrams, and software backups.
• Ensure compliance with plant standards, safety requirements, and cybersecurity guidelines.
• Support modernization, migration, and digital transformation initiatives across manufacturing facilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, OEMs, and plant stakeholders to deliver automation projects successfully.
