Role Purpose
The role is responsible for leading and managing shopfloor operations to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant execution of manufacturing activities. The position plays a critical role in meeting delivery commitments, ensuring quality standards, optimizing resource utilization, and maintaining strong customer and cross-functional coordination.

The position plays a critical role in meeting delivery commitments, ensuring quality standards, optimizing resource utilization, and maintaining strong customer and cross-functional coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Planning & Execution
- Plan, schedule, and control daily, weekly, and monthly shopfloor activities to meet production, quality, and delivery targets.
- Ensure smooth execution of jobs by proactively identifying and addressing constraints, risks, and bottlenecks.
- Maintain inspection readiness and always shop discipline.
- Allocate manpower, machinery, tools, and materials efficiently across jobs to ensure optimal utilization.
- Balance workload and capacity to meet shifting priorities and customer demands.
- Coordinate closely with Stores and SCM to ensure material availability.
- Monitor daily progress of shopfloor activities and take immediate corrective actions where required.
- Provide hands-on technical guidance and problem-solving support to supervisors and technicians.
- Conduct daily meetings, progress reviews, and coordination discussions with shop teams.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customer inspections, audits, and shop visits.
- Prepare and present inspection documents, technical reports, and delivery schedules.
- Support customer queries during manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and handover phases.
- Ensure 100% compliance with Siemens Energy policies, statutory legal requirements, and government regulations.
- Enforce strict adherence to company and customer HSE policies during all shopfloor activities.
- Actively promote a strong safety culture through risk assessments, toolbox talks, and safe work practices.
- Support internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of findings.
- Monitor, analyze, and report shopfloor KPIs related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, and Cost.
- Perform root-cause analysis for KPI deviations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to management and stakeholders.
- Liaise effectively with internal stakeholders including:
- Quality Assurance
- Business Administration (BA)
- EHS
- Supply Chain Management (SCM)
- Sales
- Stores
- Order Management
- Project Management
- Ensure alignment across functions to meet project and business objectives.
- Support skill development and competence enhancement of shopfloor personnel.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, safety, and cost reduction.
- Support implementation of Lean, best practices, and standardized work methods.
- Encourage digital system usage as applicable for planning, reporting, and traceability.
- Consistent on-time delivery performance
- Zero major safety incidents
- Stable and improving KPI trends
- Positive customer feedback and inspection outcomes
- Cost recovery and utilization of manpower and equipment
- Degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 8-10 years of work experience in managing team of 10 to 15 people and minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in managing shopfloor
- Additional Experience in shop repair of Generator Rotors / Know how in Gas Turbine overhauls, packaging / Manufacturing is desirable
- Strong Verbal and written communication skills in English
- Strong aptitude for learning new technologies and understanding how to utilize them in a work environment.
- Strong customer centric approach
- Conversant with Indian and International codes & standards Knowledge of Industry Norms and Standards.
- To partner the various teams to Execute orders in line with planned cost and time schedule, follow work procedures for compliance with quality systems and statutory requirements.
